I'm so jealous of...

...everyone's vacations! We have nothing planned this summer, and it totally bums me out. There's nothing to look forward to.

I was looking at our work schedules, and all my co-workers have blocked-out their calendars of when they'll be out. And when I say "I wish I were going on vacation", they say "You had a honeymoon recently." OK, well it wasn't THAT recent, AND it was double-served because we attended a destination wedding at the same time (and I was a BM).

I'm being whiny... I want a vacation.

Re: I'm so jealous of...

  • I don't have a summer vacation planned either.  My sister wants a destination wedding so no summer vacation for me.  I can't even take the PTO time during the summer to just stay home and be a bum.
  • I just had a vacation, but already want to go on another one.  We were invited to go on a cruise in January with some friends, but the price was way too high ($700 for an inside room+port fees/taxes+a plane ticket to San Juan to get to the boat).  It would end up being $2000 just for the cruise without anything else....no thanks!
  • Izzy you can try and book it last minute when the cruise gets closer and the company tries to just fill empty rooms in hopes that you'll spend a lot of money on the ship.

I also want to go on vacation but I can't figure out where I want to go.  I'm looking for something relatively cheap!

We can whine together.  I didn't go on a honeymoon and we have absolutely no vacation plans as far into the future as I can see.

  • I have no vacation planned either. obviously I'll be off this summer but I'll be taking care of a newborn. We do have Cape May with our families at the end of July but I think that will be more of a headache than a vacation for us. we may just go for a couple days. I just dont feel like staying with my inlaws and trying to pry my son away from them.

I'm not sure when we'll go on vacation again? I'd like to do a cruise or carribean vacation with teh baby and my parents next year sometime - but who knows where we'll be financially if I switch careers.

  • We MAY go to Ft. Meyers in the fall.  Airfare there is super cheap and my aunt and uncle have a condo that we could use for free.

We were looking at a cruise in Oct, but I think it is out of our budget since we just had to buy a new AC unit for the house.  Boo!  (if anyone wants a cheap cruise, NCL sails from Philly to Bermuda in the fall!)

That's what I was thinking.  I told the people planning it that they were crazy to book so far in advance and pay so much, but I think this is their first cruise.  I've been on lots of cruises and we always book last minute and save hundreds of $$.
