What am I missing?

I think I'm doing okay with getting ready for our trip and I think I have it together but fill in the blanks if I missed anything please.

Had a note put on our bank account of when we'll be gone so they won't think our charges are fishy.

Contacted police and let them know our dates and who will be watching the house.

Dad is watching the cats/plants/mail/house.

Need to call homeowners insurance and see if/what is covered for our stuff.

Got a loaner phone from Verizon (free except for the shipping, not to terribly shabby) so it works internationally.

Have our adapter and mini extension cord to plug in multiple things.

My order of contacts are coming so I don't have to bring my glasses.

New camera with big memory card.

New sneakers that are wicked comfortable. They're Tevas I got at Ross for $14 with no laces and just a strap that wraps around and clips. DH calls them weird. I call them the sneaker of the future. Laces. Pssshhhht.

Hmmmm....litter and food for cats.....dollar store for ibuprofen and miscellaneous pepto and such....and that's all I can really think of now.

What did I miss?

  • You're quite prepared! Maybe activities/snacks for the plane ride?

    Have a great time!!

  • Your passport!!

It sounds like you're good to go.  Have a great trip :)

  • Oooh, good call!

Last night DH was insisting he doesn't care and he just wants to throw some stuff in a bag and go. I told him he'll be happy when his tummy hurts and he needs a tums, or has a headache and needs ibuprofen, or gets "sea sick" on the ferry to Scotland and needs some motion sickness stuff, or is on the plane and wants a blanket or something to read.

Its like ~*~**magic**~*~ that all this stuff just shows up in our bags. It's the travel fairy! Ta-da!!!!!

In addition to your regular passport you should make sure you have spare copies of your passport in case you lose your original or get pickpocketed, etc.  My friend got pickpocketed last summer while we were in Paris and while the passport copy couldn't get her on the plane it gave her the info she needed to apply for an emergency travel visa at the US Embassy.

That's great advice for any of us that might be traveling, Jen.  Even if it is domestic travel...make a copy of your driver's license and maybe your birth certificate.  You never know when you could be a victim of a crime or just absent-minded that you lose something.

It does sound like you got it all pretty much covered though.  Have a great trip...I wish I could sneak into your suitcases.Stick out tongue

We did this when we went on our honeymoon to the DR. We also had a form from our travel agent with the information on all our flights, hotels, thier contact information that we could give to our families just in case of an emergancy. On our agents checklist she also suggested that we make a copy of our passport, drivers license/birth certificates to leave with the contact list for our families. That way if there was a problem they would be able to help us out. I also suggest putting a change of clothes (toothbrush.....) in your carry-on bag just in case your bags don't make it with you.

Its sounds like you are really prepared--enjoy your trip!!
