Any fave routines so far?
mine?
The first hiphop. Awesome.
Tyce's jazz routine.
What I don't like?
that second hiphop. Booo that was not good - the choreo was boring and the song was too
that broadway routine - the choreo was very simple. I feel bad for them b/c they're very strong dancers
Re: anyone watching sytycd?
Mom, why are you washing my feed in the sink?!
Not in the American one.
A girl who teaches with me here in town is in the top 100 Canadian dancers though. We'll see how she does!
And the bollywood number? I thought it was well choreographed, but that the blonde seemed a little flustered and not entirely polished. She was kind of frantic looking, y'know?
I also loved the crash test dummy one - I thought it was very artistic and I think I love that Capono (sp?) guy. He really embraced that character.
And loved the contemporary number by Mandy Moore. Good ol' retro ballad and some good modern/lyrical choreography. I just wanted to jump into the tv and dance with them.
I loved the Richard Marx song dance. That really moved me and I hate modern dance!
I didn't really see what they saw for the last Samba routine. I've grown up with ballroom all my life (my dad's a semi-pro dancer) and I definitely didn't see the leg action and stiffness that girl should have had. But what do I know.. Mary Murphy seemed to love her.
And I don't think she's that pretty!
I missed most of it tonight
Just got home now.
I did not enjoy the crash test dummies at all. Not a big fan of Tyce's routines. And I'm sad I missed the Bollywood routine.
Loved "Mad at You" and "Only Have Eyes for You"
Liked the "Jai Ho" one
It does suck sometimes for the dancers, when they get less than stellar choreography/routines. I wonder if it will really hurt some of them in the results.
Oh it definitely WILL hurt them. Choreography, to me, is 75% of the performance. If the choreography is lame, no matter how well the dancers dance it, it will bomb. The creativity has to shine through.
I felt that the 2nd hiphop, and the broadway routine both will fall into that category. And the cha-cha number (the Lady Gaga one). All 3 were boring to watch, for me.
And that makes me sad, b/c I like Vittolio and Asuka. I hope if they do land in the bottom three (which I predict), that the judges will have their senses to keep them.
Who needs to go home? That hip hop dancer (I think his name is Tony?). He has very little flexibility/facility of learning different genres.
Yeah. That guy is Tony. He does need to go home.
