Re: Everybody ok?
Holy Crap!!
There are trees down all over the place and we saw some of our neighbors roof fly by!
Everything is calm in Richardson now. ?I'm home alone since DH is working late tonight. ?I love stormy weather, but I've decided I don't like it as much when I'm home alone. ?Thankfully, it does not appear that we had any damage, just a few smaller tree limbs on the ground.
Mrs.Reaux - I hope everything is okay at your house! ?I thought of your emergency tornado kit when it started getting bad and gathered up a flashlight, radio and of course shoes!?
We are in Denton and oh my goodness! The tornado sirens went off for about ten minutes straight, and I thought the sideways rain mixed with hail was going to break our dining room window!
We have plants in these huge heavy pots that are normally on the deck, but we moved up against the covered part of the house, and all of them were knocked over and spread throughout our yard!
The fence between us and our neighbors (on the neighbors side) is down, as well! I thought their tree was going to fall over on our house, but luckily, it did not!
Funny thing - all the chairs we thought were secure are also spread throughout our yard, but the "redneck golf" made of PVC pipe standing in the middle of our yard never moved! The tree we just planted next to it was nearly uprooted, but man, that redneck golf is apparently some serious business!
Ha!
Hope everyone is okay!
it's all over here. ?my fiance and i are pretty hilarious... we spent the majority of the storm sitting on our balcony counting the seconds between lightning and thunder. ?with beer.
:-) ?hope nobody got hit too hard. ?i am pretty angry that the first half of wipeout was the weather guy instead. boo. ??
We are ok, but I cannot believe how quickly it hit. We have a small branch down from our tree, but neighbors across the street have trees split in half and one tree is lying on top of a car. Fences are down in our neighborhood, but only those without aluminum posts. The worst I think is part of a business's roof blew off and parts of it are lying on top of a neighbor's swingset/pool and scattered throughout parts of the neighborhood. Our power went out at 7pm, and by 9 the boys andI left the house. They were extremely bored and we were all hungry. I figured we'd go kill some time and come back to some power. We got back at 10 and still had no power. I woke up around 1am and the power was back on.
DH was gone last night doing one of his clincial rotations and so he hasn't had a chance to look at the roof or anything. Our roof & skylights were just replaced last year by the previous owners right before we moved in, so I'm hoping everything is ok.
After 5.5 years of loss, heartbreak, and empty arms, our dreams were fulfilled through the beautiful, selfless gift of adoption. We are amazingly blessed!

Glad to hear that everyone is okay!
We spent the evening picking up the neighbors roof and siding from out of our front yard and trying to get ahold of the neighbors who ended up with their big front tree on their house - wow, I haven't seen a storm hit that fast in a long time. I was trying to watch the recording of the housewives of new jersey!
All of a sudden it hit and J was trying to go outside to pick up stuff and a few minutes later all of the air rushed out of the house - of course J was outside yelling "It's rotating - come see this it is so cool!" and I am yelling at him to "get inside you idiot!" I swear, what is it with guys having to run outside and see what is going on??
LMAO at your DH!
My idiotic neighbor decided that he needed to finish cutting off the branches to his trees that snapped all while it is still lightning extremely bad and raining. While it wasn't pouring rain, it was still a steady rain. The moron was climbing in one of the smaller trees to cut off the limb. Not only did he finish cutting them off from the actual tree, he then proceeded to cut the large branches into smaller pieces and stack them. Both tree limbs were hurting anything, as they were both laying in the grass before he cut them off. It wasn't like they fell on his roof or anything.
LOL. I was watching on my back porch. You know, you don't have to take cover until you hear the freight train sound.
I was watching Real Housewives of NJ too. I didn't know there was a storm coming until FIL called to give us a heads up. Thoughtful of him, since he knows we're TiVo addicts and probably not getting the weather updates!
does he have a death wish? wow - I can't believe he was in the trees!
We survived. Thank goodness. We were outside picking our peaches when it hit. Trying to pick peaches in the rain and wind, while praying you don't get struck by lightning, is quite an intense situation. But, it was our last time to be in the house *tear* and we HAD to get our peaches!! I didn't want the new owner to get them all! We were literally racing the storm to get to the house after work. We got a box full, but not nearly as many as I wanted
Oh well.
Otherwise, we survived. There were a bunch of downed trees and fences in the 'hood, but nothing at our house. Er, our old house. At least after the first storm!
I spent the rest of the night trying to keep my parents' dog out of the bed with us because he is a big weenie when it comes to storms. Poor thing. I felt bad, but he's not the kind of dog you want in your bed with you!
DH is on the roof pounding away. We really need to replace the whole thing.
The electricity has been out at my internship site since 6:30pm yesterday. ?It was fun spending the day in the dark, no phones, no internet, and no A/C! ? Thank God I get to sit in my comfy house now.?
