DD will play with toys like her little infant chair and the attached toys or her jumperoo. When it comes to toys like rattles, stuffed toys, teethers etc, she plays for maybe a minute and then gets upset and starts to cry or get frustrated. Even if I try to help her, she gets super upset. I feel like she wants them to "do" something and can't figure it out.
On the other hand, she loves loves loves people and being outside. She loves to be played with (without toys), to observe and listen to people talk to each other and to look around when we go outside.
I figure by now she should be able to play with some toys independently. I'm kinda worried. All she really wants to do is put
stuff in her mouth.
Is this normal for her age/development? I feel like it's not.
Re: Is this okay? Toys & DD
She'll be 6 months next week.
All the toys that say 6 months on them and even those that say 3 months just annoy them. I know those are just guidelines but I'm a little worried.
I can't remember EXACTLY when DD started playing independently with her toys...but I'm sure it was after 6 months....I'd say when she was closing in on 8 months.
I think you are fine.
That's reassuring! Thanks. I guess I just feel like she should do more than just put stuff in her mouth and that get mad when it doesn't fit.
Maybe when she starts sitting up on her own she'll be more interested in toys.
Thanks Pam!
this sounds just like DD.
She'll play independently on the floor for just a few minutes and then she gets frustrated. She will pick up the toys and then get pissed off when they don't fit inside her mouth.
Her jumperoo toys entertain her more - but then again, she just tries to put them in her mouth LOL
