Mommies who work out

How do you do it?  How do you find the time?  What do you do with DC while you work out?

Part of it is because I've been lazy....but I have, for example, the P90X videos, which I totally want to do, but DD is practically attached to me all day long.  And DH doesn't get home until around 7....then DD gets ready for bed, and before you know it is 8:30 or 9 and I am DEAD TIRED...

And, of course, our city workers are on strike, so the mom and baby fit class I was doing 2x a week has been cancelled since the beginning of April, so I'm not even getting to do that.

I am a real heifer...and I think I was to start TTC in a couple of months, but I haven't lost at least 15lbs of baby weight yet that I want to drop before we try again.

HELP!!

Re: Mommies who work out

  • Are there any swim classes offered or are those affected by the strike too?

A friend just lost her baby weight by going on weight watchers and by doing some stroller class (I think it is like a course you walk/run with your stroller).

Could you do the P90X video's while your daughter naps?

  • I do a kickboxing class 3x a week.  The class starts at 8PM.  DH usually makes it home by 6 so he stays in to watchs the kids.  On those days he does dinner bath (if needed) and bedtime so I can get out the door.

  • I was in the stroller fit...those are the ones that have been cancelled...

Unfortunately....DD only naps for 20-30 minutes twice a day, if that...not much of a napper....by the time I get changed and the DVD's in, she's pretty much awake

  • Stupid strike.

I hear you can burn a lot of calories giving BJ's Stick out tongue

  • Seeing as how we aren't really having much sex (like 10 times in 10 months...I don't think there is much chance of him getting a bj) LOL
  • What about a Fit Mom class?  You bring DC and basically use them as part of the workout.
  • first off - I DOUBT you are a heifer

But, i know the feeling - when you just aren't doing enough exercise and you feel like you could do better

I do a 20 minute run on the treadmill while DD jumps happily in her jolly jumper right in front of me. She loves the music I play and gets a kick out of mama running like a maniac. LOL

I do some resistance exercises using DD as a weight. She's massive so I am really feeling it lately.

I plan on trying the mom&baby aquafit too

Hope that helps! SYTYCD is back on!

    1. Put baby in stroller
    2. Put on ipod (to motivate you and drown out crying if need be)
    3. Get going!!!

Haha, some days it's NOT as simple as this, but while I was on mat leave I promised that for my health and for DD's pleasure (or not, depending on her mood) we were going for a hike up a hill or speed walking 4 days a week minimum. It really really works. If baby is crying, oh well. I know that sounds harsh but she'll learn to love it if she doesn't already, and putting on some great tunes gets you going. Many times DD would fall asleep.

Also, to lose weight, I cut out bread, pasta, rice, cereal, etc (basically empty carbs). For me, when I eat lean meat, veggies and fruit I lose weight FAST. Pre-pg that's pretty much all I ate (also wine to drink lol). But I think you're still bfing so that diet is likely not appropriate. But you could try a modified version if you like. GL!!! 15 lbs is totally do-able.

  • How about the salsa n baby classes? That way she gets to cling as much as she wants and you get to still work out. And walk, walk walk (like Shelle said) with the stroller, find the biggest hills around your place and ensure to go up and down them. I would totally loan you mine :P And like Nat said, use baby as weight resistance. There are quite a few options to work out with baby, check out your library resources.

On the days I go to the gym I leave at 7:15pm and return two hours later. So he does bed time for everybody. The yoga we do when he gets home from hockey at 11pm. We are night people so this super late for some/most people but normal for us. We usually go to bed around midnight/1am. And much later if the good lovin's happenin'... which is a great work out :P
