Stupid question but...

When you were looking at artists did you check to see their licence and certs?

I got one when I was 15 on my ankle. A weird punker dude gave it to me when I was drunk at a party. Had it removed about 10 years ago and luckily I don't have any diseases because of it, but damn that was the dumbest thing I've ever done.

I would def check out their license and certs, I'd also contact the organizations responsible for issuing them and make sure everything is up to date and valid.

I checked but I was more concerned about seeing the autoclave & equipment in sterile bags, showing that they were sealed, that the inks were intermixed, etc.

I have a few - I did not, but all my tats were done at a very reputable place by the same guy. I checked that everything was sterile, but that's it

Yes

I was 19 at the time and didn't think of checking for that. But I went to reputable artist and has seen a ton if his work. I even went back a year later to have more added to it. I love my tattoo and it means a lot to me, even though I've been thinking of having it covered with new artwork. Embarrassed

I don't have any tatoos, but my husband does.

He's always gone to the same guy and was referred to him by various friends. We checked his artwork and sterility.

I got on 13 years ago and went back three times to get it "added" to.

I never looked for anything remotely legit and am now in the process of getting it removed.

I have one and I did not ask to see any certification for the artist. I heard about the shop from various happy customers and the place seemed legit. I too was more concerned with the sterility measures they used than the artist certification.

Yes and no. Like a lot of others here I checked his work and the sterility of the shop/tools. Are you thinking of getting one?
