Seriously, this week took forever!
DH and I are driving upstate to my parent's house tonight. My sister and nephew will be in and I can't wait to see everyone. Tomorrow is my cousin's grad party and, even though they aren't handling the party properly IMO, I'm still happy that we'll be able to see my extended family for a few hours. We'll be driving back home Sunday and will probably stop by the Greek festival at our church for a little while.

Thank goodness!
I am so excited! This morning, I got up and went for a walk/run. About 2 miles. Made me feel good. I am going to try my best to keep doing it atleast 5 times a week.
I am ready for tonight...we have a date night planned out then tomrrow is just hanging out. Sunday we are going tubing down a river in North GA. So excited!
DH has ?a half day at work and then a company cookout (in the rain ugh!!)
on the way there we have to stop and see if I can get my ipod fixed or else get a new one (its had a dead battery for 6 months and I tried to charge it yesterday and it wont charge and I need it for my trip

?then tonight we have a small poker game we are hosting.?
tomorrow I have to pre-bowl for the 2 weeks of summer league I am missing. I also have to pack. Then there is a street festival at our favourite local pub, and there are some boats coming up the Hudson River that we might go look at. (its like a boat parade from what I hear).
Sunday I leave bright and early to head to Alberta! I'll be gone for 12 days, and won't be online until I get back.
I might post an update later today if/when I hear about the job....?

No big plans for me this weekend. Today I am working 3:30-midnight. I picked up a couple of hours at work tomorrow, 5:30-10pm, and then Sunday I am working all day. Booring.
Next week is my birthday and Kevin's been asking me to make a birthday list (which I'm pretty sure I haven't done since I was about 13) and I couldn't think of anything so yesterday he told me what his plans are - taking me to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake and staying at a B&B. He wanted to do it next weekend, because we'll be going to Buffalo on Sunday, so it would just make sense logistically. Unfortunately I am only scheduled to work on Friday and Saturday next week, so I don't want to give my hours away...so instead, we are going to go to the Finger Lakes in July on our way back from the wedding in Connecticut. I looooooove going to wineries and I am super excited about staying in a cute B&B! Yahoo!?

Jen - you should def do it x 100! Niagara on the Lake was my first wine love. Its gorgeous there. We went to the Ice Wine Festival a couple years ago -?amazing!
Here is my comparison: NOTL is alot about appearances. Things are gorgeous and clearly they put a lot of effort into their properties, but its reflected in their prices. If you do a tour, only do it at one winery, I promise you they will all say the same thing (the microclimate makes the perfect place for growing, not too hot not too cold, different types of grapes, process of making wine yadda yadda). You'll pay at least $5 to try the wine. Which I thought was completely reasonable until....
We went to the Finger Lakes wineries. Its NOT about appearances here. No one offers to give you tours of their property. It is all about the wine. We went one place and paid $2 and tried 13 wines. The only thing is, to me the ones in the Finger Lakes are a lot sweeter. I mean, I was going through and picking the sweeter varieties, but I had a lot more to choose from than I usually do. We went to one called "Tickle Hill" - its basically someone's garage. And "Rasta Ranch's" store is run out of a barn. but its SOOOOOOO good!?
My weekend is going to be pretty low key. I moved out of my apartment yesterday (finally!) and I am now down in Portland at my parent's for a few days before beginning my road trip to SoCal. So, I think I am going to get a few errands done today (like go to the DMV, ew) and just kind of relax and hang out with a few friends. On Sunday I am going with my family to this (reportedly) amazing seafood brunch at a place on the Columbia river, so I am planning on eating a TON that day

Thanks for the info, Meag! I have done a lot of the Finger Lakes wineries since my sister went to college near Ithaca so, we would hit a few every time I visited...yum! If you ever get out to eastern part of the NY, the Hudson Valley wine trail is really nice and very laid back like the FL's.
Renea...have a great few days with your family and a safe and uneventful road trip!!! How long after getting to SD do you start your residency? I hope you'll have a little time to enjoy the city/beaches and settle in.

Renea - they have a lot of varieties, regular, late harvest and ice wine - its pricey, but if you ever get the chance, go for it. It is SO delicious! Good luck with the big move and starting at a new place! Do you have a time frame for when you and DH will be able to live in the same place?
Jen - that is why we went to the Finger Lakes last time, too! Kevin played football in college, so we went to see our alma mater play Ithaca and my reward for going 4 hours away for a football game (i hate football) was staying over and going to the wineries. ?

im trying to get the 4 tests i have to do this week done by tuesday so that we can leave early on wednesday for our wine tour trip in MI.
Meag - I hope that he will be able to transfer out to a base in SD around the end of the year; they have a job opening for a defense counsel position then. But, it depends on whether his new boss will let him go once she starts out at his base in a few months.
Are all ice wines white or are there red varieties too? I ususally prefer a red wine, though I had a delicious white at dinner last weekend that is making me change my mind...
Renea - I'm pretty sure there are both, but I am a white-lover, so those are the ones I tend to get.?
UPDATE on my Friday - I locked myself out of my apt and spent the better part of an hour banging on the door trying to wake Kevin up (because he was working overnight, so he was sleeping this afternoon). I've officially bruised both my hands, banging and yelling and calling his phone (after the neighbor got annoyed and offered me hers) to no avail. I called the landlady and as soon as I hung up, her husband pulled in the parking lot and came and opened the door. Kevin was still sound asleep and hadn't heard a thing. ?
