I guess in more then one way.
So we had really hoped that we would have our kids at the same time as BIL and SIL that announced yesterday that they are PG. We both want 2 kids and thought it would be perfect. (Other SIL is also PG and due at about the same time). We moved to the town we live now in part because we wanted our kids to be close to their cousins (we live a couple streets away from BIL and SIL).
Now, they are expecting and I am thinking that if we have our first when they have their second that just won't be as ideal for cousin playing situations. Then there's always the younger one and the older one...
So while I was thinking of this last night DH must have been as well because this morning as soon as we woke up he said "Do you want to have a baby?" YOWZA. Do we?
Really we have almost everything we had planned on having when a kiddo comes along. We have bought a house, I have my teaching degree and Steve has a decent job. I don't have a permanent position but I could also be quite happy subbing.
Things to think about.
Would you consider TTC before your originally "scheduled" time if you really wanted your kids to be close in age to their cousins?
edit- on another note I haven't had my period in a while as I have recently gone off of BCP so maybe I'm already pregnant.... ?
Re: Everyone is doing it?
Well, I don't know if the cousins being close in age is a good reason on its own, but it does sound like you're in a good place.
We put off TTC for a couple of years while we tried to get in a good financial situation, and we had hoped to buy a house first, but eventually we gave up on the house part (still can't afford one) and just went for it. Turned out we had trouble TTC and it took two years to get pregnant. Glad we didn't wait any longer.
good question.
I'd have to say that I'd be 100% ready - not just financially & physically, but emotionally. Are you ready for your life to change. And it will change big time.
It also would depend on why we had "scheduled" when we wanted to TTC. If your reason for waiting to TTC had to do with getting your job and home situation figured out, then fine, you're ready, but if it were set for a certain time b/c you wanted to travel - then get the travelling out of the way first.
The thought in itself is exciting! Now you have me all excited for you! And the thought that you could already be pregnant? GO AND POAS already!!! Now I'm all jacked up and need to know.
I wouldn't go on "just because everyone else is doing it" sort of thinking. If you guys are ready - then you're ready! That's what matters most, and it sounds like you're in a good position. Besides, can anyone really be ready?
Oh reeeeaaallly....
A lot of my friends have children, and my BFF has a little baby daughter. My BFF and I always wanted to have children together, and be able to do things together, but it didn't work out.
Is it a bummer, yes, but I would never have a baby just because everyone else was doing it. If we just happened to get pg and it was the right time for us and it just happened to be the right time for our friends, then that's even better.
