Is it just me?

Devil hehehehehe

but no seriously - when I check out these blogs of homes/decorating etc...I always notice that all the windows have beautiful lace, sheer curtains, etc... and nothing else.  No blinds, nothing.

So how do these people handle walking in to their rooms at night knowing that when they turn on the lights that anyone outside can see in their house?  Don't they get freaked out that the boogy man may be looking in to their house or did I just read scary books too often?

Re: Is it just me?

  • I feel the same way.  I am a total blinds closer.  It eeks me out that people can see in at night...... eeeek.

And by the way Mrs.Reaux - our furbabies have like all of the same toys.   Just thought you should know.  We are great toy picker-outers.

  • Yeah, I've noticed that in blogs and I've wondered that as well.  Maybe they don't live as close to the next house as most people do in communities here?   It's definitely the norm in the Park Cities.  When we visit my family there (who have shutters), pretty much everyone else on the street just has drapes and nothing else on the windows, and they usually have a table with a light on so you can clearly see in.  Maybe the more money you have the less you put on the windows?
  • Ladybird - ha! I have spoiled those dogs rotten with toys, everytime I come home from the store, or from being out Louis will run right to me and start jumipng around the bags and sticking his head in them to see if he got a toy or not
  • I noticed the same thing when I was shopping online for curtains. Everything they showed had no blinds and I had a hard time imagining how everything would look with our blinds. It was mind boggling. I ended up ordering some things, so hopefully they look alright with the blinds and I don't have to send anything back.

  • We have some neighbors that made a point of telling us that their living room curtains are always open so they can see what's going on outside and everyone can see them.  He said they have nothing to hide.  I thought that was a really odd thing to say.  Hmm

  • I always leave our shutters open and DH hates it.  The only windows at the front of our house are the formal dining and the office.  I like to have the formal dining light on dim at night, it's a pretty room and all the neighbors should get to see it!  Plus we have two big trees in our front yard so you have to be at the right angles to see in.  Our family room/kitchen/informal dining are at the back of the house and we have an 8ft fence and back up to a field with trees.  We do close our bedroom windows at night because it's creepy to think someone could sneak into the yard and watch you sleep.
