Ughhhh.....so today was a long day! It was our last day before summer vacation was I was really excited this morning!
Let me start from the beginning...I am a teacher in Beaumont and I was laid off in March, but rehired last week. They told me that I would find out by the end of June what school and I grade I would be assigned to.
So, because I had no idea where I would be teaching, I had to pack up my entire classroom! I got it all packed up and put into storage today, only to find out that I will be staying at my site.
The bad news is, I will be teaching a 4/5 combo and maybe Gateways which is an intensive intervention program for students that are two or more years below grade level. Needless to say I am extremely stressed out! I could end up having 3 preps...4th grade, 5th grade, and Gateways! I know that I am a good teacher, but this seems like WAY too much!!!! I hope our principal figures out something else, and soon!

Re: Long day at work!
yikes that would be a lot!
I was in a 4th/5th combo class. My teacher would always forget who were the 4th graders and who were the 5th graders.
Gateways is for kids that are behind? ?Is Gate still for the smart kids?
I was in a 3/4 Gate combo class and I don't think my teacher even knew who was 3rd grade and who was 4th grade. lol?

Thanks, Kim. There are so many of us affected by this. It makes me sad for everyone.

I am so sorry! I hope the next year will not be as difficult as you are expecting it to be. Or they figure out somewhere else for you.
I know so many teachers that are being affected. I hope everyone finds a place for next fall as well.
Tameka, I am so happy you got hired back. I was wondering about you.
Thank you
Ewww, three preps is awful. I had 4 preps last year for middle school and that was TOUGH! It's hard to be grateful to have a job in teaching when you know it's going to be this difficult. It seems like a lose-lose situation. GL!
And Tameka, congrats on getting your job back!
