I hate that it is Monday already, I was sooo not ready for the weekend to be over with!! Our trip to Fredericksburg was Ah-MAZING!!!! I seriously almost cried when we were packing up yesterday (lame) to leave. I didn't want to leave. I thought DH was literally going to have to pull me out and break my death grip that I had on the place. That place is just the cutest ever (pics to come soon) and we totally would LOVE to move up there but A.) where in the world would we work B.) cost of living is higher up there than in Houston and C.) I don't think DH could leave his mom with her health being as unstable as it is. And thinking about having to wait until we retire to move up there just saddens me.
But at any rate we ate some incredible German cuisine. DH had his first Weinerschnitzel and it was delish. I had some varieties of bratwurst, Knockwurst (sp) and pepperwurst. Also HOt german potato salad is SOOOO SOO good and we are hunting down a recipe as we speak. We also found a new beer that you must try. It's Spaten Optimator. It's a classic German dark beer so yeah it's heavy but OMG soooo good. And drinking it on draft in it's own labeled pint mug out on a patio in the cutest town ever is even better!!!
Overall our trip was fantastic. We antiqued ALOT and window shopped, ate too much, drive through the hill country and got a good buzz. We ended the trip on a great note too and stopped at a drive thru wildlife ranch in San Antonio and that was awesome. I'm deathly afraid of ostriches and DH thought it was funny when he would stop along the side of one and that creepy thing would start bobbing its head and look like it's neck was going to do a "go go gadget thing" and then he'd be able to peck the _hell outta you. And of course DH locked the windows so I couldn't roll it up and i was screaming and on the verge of tears and he was laughing like a mad man like it was the funniest _shit he'd ever seen, lol. Looking back it was funny but at the moment I was panicked. We also got to feed some Zebras (precious!!) and there was a little baby donkey (tooo too cute) that let us pet him!!! He still had the fuzzy fur and everything!!! hehe
Anyways, I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!! SOrry for the novel!! ![]()
Re: Good morning Ladies!!!
Meg - so glad that you had a fun weekend. Sounds terrific and I can't wait to see pics!
DH and I drove upstate to my parent's on Friday night. My sister and nephew were also in town and it was so nice to all be in one place (happens less and less with the geographical distance between us all). Just had a nice relaxing weekend together, attended my cousin's college graduation party and ate a lot of yummy foods! The time is always too short and I miss my sister and nephew already...he is too stinkin' cute!

Jen - Also glad to hear that your time visiting with the fam was wonderful!
I am hitting the road today and heading down to San Diego...right after I go to the vehicle emissions and license renewal places
Hopefully the trip won't be too eventful. Have a great Monday!

Megan- so glad to hear your weekend was good! It sounds AWESOME to get out and about to just spend some time together. As I was reading through all the posts I missed last week, I was super bummed to see that your DH didn't get the job. I'm sending hugs your way because I'm sure it's hard to be strong for him when you are so disappointed. GL as he continues the search. Have a great Monday!!
Sorry - forgot to post about the weekend. I was gone Wed - Friday at our summer conference for work, so I did dishes, laundry and cleaning when I got home Friday. DH is normally good about that stuff, but he was working crazy long days last week so stuff just got left. Otherwise, lots of work and we went grocery shopping last night about 10:00 because we had a very empty fridge. Not sure why - but we love grocery shopping together.
Also - I got my hair highlighted and on a whim... chopped a lot off. I wasn't going to, but my stylist convinced me. I'm still a little unsure of my "wife chop" but I think it's growing on me. Pics maybe to come.
Megan - sadly, my beautiful little jersey bull got sold before I took a picture. (we sell most of our bulls at a few days old because we don't have the space to raise them. Hercules was a special one we got to keep just because he was sooo little. Alas, I will have to wait until a new and cute jersey comes along for you!)
Meg, I am so glad that you guys were able to get away and enjoy each other for the weekend. Sounds like you had a great time!
I worked most of the weekend, but Saturday afternoon, we met up with Kevin's mom and brothers and she bought them all suits (they needed them for their cousin's upcoming wedding, plus it never hurts to have one) and then got lunch. Yesterday I worked all day and Kevin made dinner - grilled mahi mahi and potatoes, yum!?
Lisa you def need to post pics of your new do!!!
thats ok about the jersey cow, maybe the next one!!! How is hercules doing?? Yesterday when we went through the drive through wild life ranch they had some bull/steers and i was feeding one and their tongues are sooo rough!!! he was really sweet though!!
Meag, i agree about the suit thing. DH got one for his grandmothers funeral and I just think they are great to have cause you never know when you will need one and guys just look soo _damn good in them too
