WDYT of The Dump?

I have never been before and was wondering what people think of it?  Is it a good place to get decent furniture or a good place to get cheapie furniture?  Do they have delivery or is it all BYOTruck?  TIA!

Re: WDYT of The Dump?

  • i haven't ever shopped there... but i have heard that there are great deals on designer furniture... but its still expensive. ?like a couch for $1,000 that used to be $9,000... yeah its a great deal but I still dont have $1,000 to spend on a couch...

it really depends on what weekend you go out there. ?i heard that they had a sale on "rooms to go" type furniture for CHEAP... just pay attention to the advertisements and pick a good weekend to go! ?hope this helps! :-)?

  • I have been a few times and never really found anything. Like pp said it is a $9 couch for $1, a lot of the stuff wasn't our style.
  • Are you close to it?

We went because were in the area for something else. I just wanted to see what the hype was about and didn't find much BUT when furniture shopping, I hit every possible local spot before buying since there really are very few furniture places already. If you're in the market, it's worth stopping to see what they have if you're in the area.

I thought some of their prices were good, some were out of my range. Just depends on the piece and original pricing. Good deals on rugs. I saw stuff I liked but we didn't need anything.

I will say that I don't think it's near as big as it looks on the outside.

  • Have never purchased anything, but have been twice.  Don't know about delivery.  Most of the items I saw seemed to be of good quality, but they didn't have what I was looking for.  I did see some occasional tables that I liked, but that's not what I was there to buy.  I think it's hit or miss if they'll have the particular piece you're looking for in a style that matches with your taste, but it's worth a look if you're in the area.
  • We went when we were couch shopping and our budget was $1k but didn't find anything we liked. But I had a very specific idea of what I wanted.

I did find some other pieces I loved but was not in the market for (or that we have the space for).  They had a huge and reasonably priced selection of rugs.  Next time we need a rug, I'm looking there first.  Oh and we laid on a $6k mattress that was originally something like $20k!

We never got to the delivery stage, but I think they do offer delivery.

  • We have been there once, looking for furniture for our daughter's room. They had a wide selection of all other types of furniture, just not children's - we didn't find anything we liked.  We did get the speel from a salesperson there though, so I do know that they offer delivery.
  • I've bought several pieces there that I use for studio furniture. If I was shopping for my home I wouldn't find anything I like - I'm very modern and they have more traditional kind of stuff. But it's hit or miss. You can get delivery, but it is expensive. We live about a mile away so we usually rent a truck from Home Depot (next door) and do it ourselves.
  • I have to agree with everyone else. It is hit or miss. We have been a couple of times but it is one of those place you have to go multiple times and just watch to see if something you like pops up.

  • I really like The Dump. But I agree, it is still somewhat expensive. But their furniture is very high quality and really unique. I would recommend showing up first thing Friday morning, because all the good stuff is usually gone if you go later on in the weekend. Interior Designers make sure to show up early Friday morning, so they take all the good stuff. My favorite section is the area right to the left when you walk in. You can find some beautiful furniture that you cannot find at regular run-of-the-mill furniture stores!
  • I bought my bed from there. I will not ever buy from them again.

Here is the short version. Our bed was messed up when we got it. I called and had to wait a month for them to come look at it. They came, said it is supposed to be like that (BS I have pictures of the model bed), said they would file a report adn call me... it has been over a month since he came.  Did I mention that the guy smelled like an ash tray?

  • I'm just going to be an echo to the gals who said it's hit or miss. We've been twice and both time were a MAJOR miss for us anyway. I've no doubt people can get a good deal there, but it'd totally depend on the style you like. I doubt we'll go back there.
  • It is hit or miss but I finally found something I liked a while back and went through the whole process.  Delivery was like $140 so if you have a long way to drive it could be worth it but it depends on how heavy and large whatever you are buying is...like an end table no problem to get yourself, a bulky bedroom set--delivery!  Anyway, we got a really good deal for a large wood piece for our tv--not so much an armoire but more of a stand.  Anyway, I would definitely go there again but would plan on "working" the place since their inventory changes so frequently.  It was a pure accident that I found anything in the first place!
  • Yup, hit or miss.  I have a great bed from there.  My mom bought a bed from there as well. We are both happy with our purchases.  I've gone back, but didn't find what I was looking for.....I can't even remember what I was looking for! :)
