I need to stop reading puppy articles...

I agree with the first line of advice, and NOTHING that follows in the rest of this editorial.  Ugh, supporting the sale of puppies from pet shops, and a designer mutt nonetheless.

Re: I need to stop reading puppy articles...

  • Yeah, there was nothing in that article that didn't make me want to vomit. I hope her and her family are all deliriously happy while Poochie's parents are living in cages too small for them to stretch out in, stacked floor to ceiling and wall to wall, in a building with no heat, air conditioning, or ventilation. Sad
  • Of course it never even occurred to her to go to a shelter or rescue if she wanted to take her kids to look at pets. There, they could actually learn something. I'm seriously considering emailng her bout it. How it's people like her that continue to support the mills and exacerbate the problem. And then publish it on top of everything else!

  • I'm writing a letter to the author and sending it to her email address.  I cannot stand by and do nothing when I see this encouraged in a news source.  She probably thought she was writing a cute feel-good piece about puppies, but it sickens me to think about the extent of damage that is done with this sort of ignorance.

  • I think writing to her is a great idea.  Maybe include a couple of websites explaining what a puppy mill is and why it's bad. You can't be part of the solution if you don't even know there's a problem. I'm sure you know of some sites, but I think these are good: http://stoppuppymills.org/inside_a_puppy_mill.html

  • pookie- do you mind if I PM you with the letter?

ETA: that is, if I can figure out how

  • Before I even read all of your responses I had a letter written and almost sent to her. That really pisses me off.

  • That is sad.  I had the same though that the whole situation could have been so much better if they planned it out and went to a shelter/rescue/reputable breeder to really teach a good lesson.
