Would you think this is a bad sign

DH and I went to our home inspection yesterday morning. We were waiting for our Realtor to arrive so we were standing in front of the house (I was taking some photos) and the inspector was looking around the outside of the house. All of a sudden a bird flew into the glass of the front door, bounced off of it and unfortunitly it died. I'm thinking this could be a bad sign about the house Sad

For the most part our inspection went well, we are meeting with our Realtor today to go over the full report. There is some moisture in the ceiling of the garage (below where the bathroom is on the main floor) that we are going to request gets looked into further, but that is the only major thing we know about so far.

Re: Would you think this is a bad sign

  • I wouldn't be too concerned about the bird, they do that sometimes...usally just means the glass was clean and they saw their reflection.

I would be more concerned about the moisture in the garage...make sure they check it really well for mold.

  • Ya they do that sometimes...especially when the glass is clean.  Without fail, at my old job, whenever we would get our windows washed a bird would fly into it like 10 minutes later.  Definitely get the moisture looked into.
  • We went today to go over the full report and replied to the sellers that we want the garage ceiling looked into as well the fan in the basement bathroom fix. They installed an exaust fan but there is no where for the air to go. Hopefully they agree to fix them, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We have 14 days until we are scheduled to close, hopefully it works out.

  • The bird is no biggy. They would do that all the time at my moms picture window.

The moisture could be a whole  slew of issues. Definitely something to get taken care of.

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Don't sweat about the bird.  Clean windows will cause them to do that.

I don't want to scare you, and if the inspection went well it's probably nothing, but if the house has a exhaust fan in a basement bathroom that goes nowhere (which obviously doesn't meet code!) you may be in for some other suprises from the previous owners DIY projects!
