Does anyone know how much extra money you are allowed to make on the side while collecting Mat leave EI without it affecting your benefits?
TIA
Re: EI Mat leave ?
Pretty much nothing LOL
If you work while on maternity or sickness benefits, your earnings will be deducted dollar for dollar from your benefits. (this is 15 weeks maternity)
On the other hand, if you work while on parental benefits you can earn $50 per week or 25% of your weekly benefits, whichever is higher. Any monies earned above that amount will be deducted dollar for dollar from your benefits. However, effective December 11, 2005, if you are living in one of the 23 participating economic regions, or living anywhere in Canada as of December 7, 2008, the amount you can earn while working part-time and receiving EI benefits is the greater of $75 or 40 % of weekly benefits (35 weeks are parental leave)
so does this not mean that I can now earn 30% of my weekly benefits and they have removed the 23 geographic regions? I worked on EI last time and the extra money was great!
As of December 2008, you can make up to 40% of your EI cheque.
I think when mine was processed, it stated eligible earnings at $174/week.
Thank goodness I make JUST under that. phew!
Sweet, I am doing the happy dance now, although I won't do that until after 6 months because I get topped up from my employer until then!
