Got Milk?

http://www.gotmilk.com/#/news-and-events/26/

Ladies - So I just posted this link on the health and fitness board and thought I would share it here too. A gal was asking about soy vs. skim milk and many ladies said they drink soy for ethical reasons. I had to prop the health benefits of skim and also volunteer that info that I (and most farmers) love our cows and treat them well.

Little known fact - we actually work with a nutrition consultant to make sure that our cows have the best nutrition and balanced diets they can. Just one example of how ours cows are more spoiled than me! Wish I had a nutrition consultant.

Thanks for reading my 2 cents on dairy cows!

Re: Got Milk?

  • I drink only real milk!

I tried soy for a time when I was on Weight Watchers, since it was fewer calories but, the concerns about artificial estrogens made me switch back fairly quickly.

  • I'm a real milk girl myself. An ex bf used to make fun of me for having a glass of milk with dinner, but i like it and its good for you. I've never tried soy...

  • Meag - I've always liked the glass of milk with dinner.  Yes, it's a little bit elementary school, but then again it is good for you and it fills you up at the same time so that you eat less!

I also like the real milk vs. soy, and for one am glad to hear that the cows get special cow diets too :)

  • I like my milk just like I like my meat :)

People always ask me about giving my daughter soy milk...ummm now. That stuff is gross, if I dont think it taste good I am not going to give it to her.

She used to have to drink goats milk instead of formula but now she is good w/drinking real milk from the pretty cows!

  • It makes me smile to read the comments! Bkenan - I think I was actually on goat's milk formula when I was a baby too:) It seems like lots of little kids need this for a little while. Obviously now I can drink cow's milk Big Smile

  • I definitely prefer real milk over soy, but will admit to loving soy chocolate milk...odd, i know :)

  • guess i'm the odd one out.

I love dairy, but it doesn't love me.

I drink soy milk but I eat yogurt and cheese in small amounts too. once in a while if I'm at somone else's place (like this morning here at my sister's) I will eat cereal with real milk, because it doesnt make sense to go buy some soy milk for one meal.

but at home, soy milk all the way.
