So...after lunch, I was nursing DD, and she fell asleep...she kind of roused, so I decided that we would try a bit of sleep training and get her to nap in her crib (she seems to only want to nap if I am holding her or in her carseat/stroller)..on occasion I can put her down, but most of the time she wakes up.
So...into the crib we go. I decide I would check on her every 10 minutes. She plays for 10 minutes....then cries for 10 minutes. I check on her....leave..cries 10 minutes....check on her....starts crying.. I figure, okay, I'll give it 10 more minutes so I can eat lunch. Once we get to almost 10 minutes...I notice....SHE'S FALLEN ASLEEP. Yay!! Let's see how long she stays down for though (usually she only naps from 20-40 minutes)
Re: Success...maybe?
Good for you for sticking through it all!
Hopefully she'll sleep the 40 min!
I hate hearing her cry...it breaks my heart even though I know it is for her own good...I'll think we'll have some snuggle time when she wakes up.
That sound like a nice idea, it'll also help her know that you'll be there when she wakes up!
I don?t know how I will be with my own child obviously but I *seem* to think that I?ll be firm. lol
I?ve babysat many times, and even had my cousins with me at 3 mos old. I?m pretty luck that I feel so comfortable handling and being around a baby.
When they were about 9 mos ? 2 yrs when it was nap time ? it was nap time. I wouldn?t give in, crying or not they would stay there.
Now I also knew the difference between tired/stubborn cry and scared cry. If they were scared I?d go up and re assure them that ?when you wake up I?ll be here and we?ll play outside (?) but for now?.bed!
AGAIN this wasn?t with MY child, I might cave into everything!! hahahaha
YAY! Dude, totally stick with it. The nap wars are thinning out in this house, the success rate is increasing daily!
DO IT!
YAY L! Sleep like a champ in your crib at nap time for Mommy!
