friday is finally here!! WOOHOO!!! what is everyone up to this weekend??
sidenote: Today is great day. You all know DH and I are all about WWII stuff and I just read that the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) (they tested out new aircraft, transported supplies and aircraft, proved to men that women can do just as much as men can do)are going to FINALLY to be given a congressional gold medal for their service and duty during WWII. This is sooo amazing. They did soo much to help our guys during WWII and have helped to shape the acceptance of women into the airforce today. Their were 38 WASP who died during the war. They were not honored, their parents weren't allowed to hang gold stars to symbolize they had lost someone in the war and they weren't given american flags at their burial because at the time they weren't considered "military". I'm sooo happy and proud of them!! I've met one WASP thus far (there aren't many left, unfortunately) and to hear her stories is just TRULY amazing. The WASP recieved no recognition during the war, they were disbanded towards the end of the war unceremoniously. But I guess it's better late than never, they finally are. WOOHOO!! I guess the government is doing one thing right these days

I am in Alberta, on the internet for the first time since Sunday mornin.I spent a few days with my dad and his parents, my brother and my step mom (who I will always refer to as step mom even tho she is no longer with my dad)
This morning I will hang out with my sister. This afternoon while she is at work I will do her laundry and catch up on internets! and tonight we are going to see the proposal!
Tomorrow I head back to my home town for my 10 yr high school reunion and on Sunday I head out to BC to see my grandmother and aunt.
So far the trip has been good. hope everything is going well for you all.
TGIF!!!! My parents are coming to town this weekend. I'm almost finished cleaning the house. Just a have a few more little things to do before they arrive and need to stop at the grocery store.
My dad and DH are planning to paint our bedroom tomorrow (finally!) from an ugly peach color to a lovely warm tan. So, once that's done, we can finally start to decorate properly and use our new bedding set that we got as a Bridal Shower gift in January! Squeeee! It's truly the little things that make me happ :-)

Dh got sent home from work this morning and was told to go to his main office Monday morning.....I am praying its not for bad news, but I can almost guarantee it is...it will be a long weekend for me.
Oh no! Man, they shouldn't make him wait until Monday, that is not nice, especially if it is bad news. Well, i will be thinkin' 'bout ya'll this wknd.. I hope everything turns out okay though!

As for us, I really have no idea what's in store for the weekend. Probably farm work and yard work. Also, I have my b-pics on Tuesday. Yikes, I'm a bit nervous. You guys probably remember about a month ago when I first scheduled them and was nervous. We'll see how they turn out and maybe I shall share a few! DH's b-day is mid-July so I hope to have time to do a nice album with them. Any last words of advice from those of you who've done them??

Thom, I haven't done them but want to. Take some wine with you to relax you if you are nervous. i've heard that is the trick and after the first few you'll be loosen up and it will be tons of fun and from what I've heard, totally Empowering!!

I keep thinking to myself, if they were going to let him go then they would have done it today and not waited until Monday. Atleast that is what you would think they would do. He was worked w/the company for over 2 years(not that long but its long enough).
Hopefully that won't be it then, since you do make a good point there. What a hellish thing to do to a person though - make them wait over an entire weekend to figure out what the "news" is. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you both!
oh yeah, today I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park (not the zoo, but with a lot of zoo-appropriate animals) and it was great! I went with a few of my future residency classmates, so it was nice to get to know some people in advance. Otherwise I am just planning on getting unpacked this weekend and putting some food in my fridge (I only have pizza and some leftovers right now). I also have a few wedding gifts that turned out to be damaged that I am going to try to return tomorrow (two pans with dings taken out of the non-stick coating and a few glassed from Crate & Barrel that are chipped). Not a big deal, but good to take care of now nonetheless.
