Grr... EI Vent

So Dave was laid off again in May.  He reactivated his original EI claim.  It's been 5 weeks and his claim hasn't been processed yet.  It's pretty straightforward considering it's the same claim they had already approved. He's already filing out reports - today will be his second, but still, no money.

I'm so frustrated. We have major bills to pay this month and I'm supposed to be on vacation for the last week of June.  There's really not much sense in me taking vacation time if we don't have the money to go anywhere or do anything.

Re: Grr... EI Vent

  • That sucks, is it just because of a back log of applications?

I mostly just wanted to say how much I love seeing a pregnancy ticker in your posts.  It makes me happy  :D

  • Last I heard the backlog was 6 weeks. Has he been able to get any updates from EI on how much longer it will be?

No updates, but I took it as a good sign that he was being asked to file reports.

Okay if it was 6 weeks, then looks like we have another week or so to go.  At least since it was reactivating a claim, we don't have the two week deductible and should get the entire 6 weeks all at once.  Of course, it does little to ease my stress!

  • Hopefully it will come soon :) You would think it would take less time for a reactivation.
  • That sucks!!!  They really need to hire some more people to process claims, considering how busy they are these days.

No kidding.  It's needed plus maybe they could get people OFF EI by hiring them :)

  • 6 weeks?! Yeesh. I don't envy you, I'd be frustrated as well. Hopefully, you get something soon.
