Is this overpacking?

My husband called me ticked off because I packed too much to go away this weekend and now he can't fit his stuff in the suitcase.  I really don't think I packed too much, considering I'm leaving right after work, and we'll be gone until sunday.  Also, we'll be outside all day tomorrow (in the rain) and then going out tomorrow night, so I'll need a change of clothes.

4 shirts
2 pants
Dress
Hoodie
Sweat pants,
2 Undershirts
Tshirt
2 swimsuits - yes, 2 because I'm feeling a bit bloated and self conscious and not sure what will look okay right now, plus we swim a lot when we're there.
2 swimsuit coverups

Really, is it that much - am I completely out of touch here?

Re: Is this overpacking?

  • I'd bring about the same amount, so maybe I'm no help.  Can your DH put his stuff into a different bag?
  • I'd probably pack 1 less shirt, and no hoody or sweatpants unless I knew I'd be wearing them. Although I don't really think it's excessive. Shoes take up a lot of room - how many pairs are you taking? :)

Sweats and hoodie will definitely be worn.  My parents live on a lake and it's cold in the mornings and night.

I need a minimum of three shirts and I'm spilly, so the fourth is really a good idea.  He knows I'm spilly!! (the T is for bed)

And I've only packed 2 pairs of shoes - flip flops and runners in a seperate bag.

I think he's just being cranky.

  • I don't think it is WAY too much - but it is a lot...

You are going for 2 full days - but you have 5 shirts.  And I'd only bring one pair of pants, like a pair of jeans.  And not sure why you need 2 undershirts too?

I would have reduced that to maybe 3 shirts, 1 pair of pants and 1 swimsuit cover up.

Granted, maybe you'll need 2 pairs of pants because of the rain.

  • Oh - and what about shoes?  How many pairs are your bringing?  They take up a lot of space..

Packing tip...pack your shoes INSIDE DH's shoes, and then fill your shoes with socks or accessories.

  • The *only* thing I myself wouldn't bring [and its because I don't use them] are the undershirts.

But only 2 pairs of shoes? Surprise

I'd have runners, flip flops, nice shoes for the dress and casual/nice shoes if we go out but nicer than runners...LOL

Why does he care so much how much stuff you're bringing? I'd say he's just being cranky.

Only 2 pairs of shoes, because I'm wearing dressier sandals, so that's all I need.

The 2 undershirts - 1 goes under a low cut top, 1 is to sleep in.

You could cut the undershirts if you sleep nekkid and show off the baby cleavage? Lol just kidding. I think with the 2 pairs of shoes you are being totally reasonable, allow yourself that extra shirt. Don't let your husband make a mountain out of a mole hill :)

  • I always wear/carry my hoody so the suitcase doesn't look as full.

And if you roll items they seem to take up less room.

  • Put everyone on your list on and walk out and tell him that you are all ready to go.
