Good thoughts & prayers needed!

One of my very best friends Nicole (Miss Nicole for those that read C's blog) called me yesterday. Her little boy, who just turned one caught a horrible disease. I've never heard of it and too scared to google but it's called coxsackie virus. It contracted by feces residue. By her description the symptons are horrible. High fever, blisters on mouth, throat, hands & feet. She called to see if C was sick (he had the virus & she didn't know when we went to his b-day party). Thankfully, C is fine. She has two boys & they both got it. Apparently only children can get it. :(

To make matters worse they had to rush to the hospital last night & now the drs. think he has lukemia or some type of blood disease.

My heart aches for them right now. Poor baby.

Re: Good thoughts & prayers needed!

  • Oh no. Is the virus something that is manageable? Hopefully yes and its not anything else. I can't imagine what she is going through.

    Sending prayers her way!

  • She said they can't prescribe anything, it has to run it's course. You're not suppose to let any sunlight hit them because it will aggrivate & inflame the blisters on their body.

She didn't say too much but I guess he got pretty sick last night so they rushed him to the hospital & that's when the drs said on top of having that virus he might also have a blood disease.

    Thanks!

  • Oh my gosh sounds frightening! Hope baby and mom will be ok!
  • Oh no!  I'm so sorry!  I'll definitely keep them in my prayers!

  • I hope that his little body can fight that virus off quickly but also that the further testing will come negative for anything else!

  • Poor baby, I hope he heals soon, and I hope that he's not suffering from anything else.

PSA: Coxsackie = hand and foot, it's a common child hood illness and it's more common in warm weather.  So mommies, wash those little hands!

  • Poor thing! ?MH's younger cousin got that when she was younger...she pulled thru it, but it is very scary.

In a twisted way, maybe it was a good thing he got coxsackie...if not then they would not have found out about the leukemia this early on. ?Now THAT is even scarier!

I'll keep them in my prayers.?
