What a week!

This week has thrown us some pretty big curve balls. Interestingly though, DH and I are coping very well. I think that we have been good about putting things into perspective and realising that there is only so much that we are able to control. I think that and the fact that we are about 2 mos. away from having a baby and I only have 5 more days left of work.

So anyway this week we dealt with:

- a flood in the basement (luckily DH found it before it hit all the baby stuff!)

- our dog getting really sick (6 accidents and vomiting in 6 hours + $450 vet bill). She is better now.

- finding out that FIL's cancer is not getting better and that he needs to go in for more testing

-continuing frustration over DH not being able to get a job

- me failing my 1 hour glucose (fingers crossed that the 3 hour is okay).

Mind you, I did have a great u/s on Wed. where we were able to see the baby's face AND we are almost done with the baby's room.

Thanks for reading, I'm not sure that there was really a point to this post.

Re: What a week!

  • Wow...that is a lot!!

I am glad the dog is better....that is always very stressful.

Good for you for putting everything in perspective....I think people often don't do that and get stressed over things that they can't control.

Here's hoping for a better week coming up!

  • Thanks.

BTW DH and I love your siggy pic! He always gets a funny little hidden smile when he sees it on the screen. So cute.

  • Holy moly what a week!

My thoughts are with your FIL. Is he close by to you guys?  Have there been any bite's with job opportunities for your husband?

And ::fist pump:: to only 5 days of work left!!!

  • Thanks Jen. You always have such supportive things to say to me. I really appreciate it.

FIL lives about 10 blocks from us. This is his 2nd round with cancer. About 12 years ago he had a kidney removed because of it and it returned about 1.5 years ago in his lung and groin area. He had been doing pretty well and the meds he was on actually shrunk the groin tumor in half. Then a few weeks ago they found that the tumor had grown again, he had internal bleeding and I know that he feels pretty crappy and run down most of the time. It is really sad and stressful especially for DH and MIL.

  • I am so sorry to hear that. Hopefully further treatment will help and ease his pain.
  • Wow, that is alot for one week!

I have GD and went for my first consult yesterday. It really isn't that bad and totally managable. So if you don't pass your 3 hr test don't worry, it's isn't the end of the world. From what I have heard though most people DO pass the 3 hr test, only about 3 - 5% of pg women get GD. Let us know how it goes.

  • OMG what a week is right! that sounds like a tough one for sure. I'm glad you are coping ok.

And hooray for seeing the baby on the big screen! That's incredible!

  • When it rains it pours eh? I'm sorry things are going so poorly, especially for your FIL. I hope there is some positive news coming up for him.

On a happier note, exciting stuff about baby being only 2 months away!
