AW: update - almost finished nursery

So DH and I finally made some headway on the nursery this weekend.  (nothing like the last minute).  We assembled a book shelf, moved some wall shelving around, patched the holes from that fiasco, got the area rug down, change table up from the basement, etc.  We're feeling a lot more prepared despite the fact that my house is still a bloody disaster.

We had some flooding into the furnace room last week (thought it was the hot water heater leaking, but turns out DH just left the hose on outside and it was dripping for DAYS against the edge of the house...) so all the stuff that had been stored in there is now in the living room.  :|  I'll feel even better once that's sorted out, but for now, the baby has a room if he decides to show up early.

Further to showing up early - the dogs have been acting VERY strange with me lately.  Following me around, staying where I am and basically ignoring DH which is v. odd for them.  And I've definitely started dropping, so maybe he will come early?  With the heat this week I'm sure I'll be hoping for him to show up asap.  Tonight's job is to pack my hospital bag and find a 'coming home' outfit just in case.

  • Wow I didn't realize how close you are!!  Very exciting!  Glad you got so much done on the nursery :)
  • Plan a date night....that will make the baby come!!!

Sounds like you had a very productive weekend :)

  • humm I wonder if the dogs are telling you something?

I definitely would have the bags ready LOL

*EDIT* I just Googled and a lot of women claim that their dogs acted this way a day or two before they went into labor. Some doge got aggressive if anyone came near the belly and some would howl as if they too were in pain. Most just oddly followed the woman around everywhere!

    Good Luck!

  • I am excited for you Jenn... we're both neck and neck with who will deliver first. I say me, only bc you seem more prepared than me, and when you're prepared, you often wait... when you're not, the baby comes ;)

I certainly don't feel prepared!  Before this weekend the nursery was still an office and I still have a lot of work to get done at the lab.  You've done this before - I'm sure you'll be ready whenever things start happening!

  • My cats got all lovey with me for about 2 weeks before I gave birth.

  • Exciting stuff Jenn, I can't believe you are only a few weeks away! Feels like you just annouced your BFP!

I had to laugh about the part with the flood, glad it was only the hose, I bet you were not impressed with DH about that one though! Good to hear none of the baby stuff got damaged Smile

  • weeee exciting :) i'd love to see pics of the nursery!
