Soap for cloth diapers?

Any recommendations?  The store I got the diapers from suggested Charlie's but it seemed quite expensive.

Re: Soap for cloth diapers?

  • I just use Ivory Snow. ?The same stuff I use on her clothes.?

  • Have you heard of Crunchy Clean?  It is a nestie who makes it (she is from the EFF board). She sells it on Etsy for a really good price (she has one for CD's and then one for regular clothes too).

  • From what I have read, you can use any laundry detergent that is "Free and Clear" (e.g. Purex, Arm and Hammer etc.).

    I like this chart:

  • yep, we just use a "free and clear" (purex), and it works just fine.
  • I use nature clean
  • I use Nellies laundry soda.  I have heard that free and clear, as well as ivory snow cause build up on the diapers and they eventually stink.

  • Jen & Joe...have you tried to order Crunchy Clean, and have it sent over the boarder??  I'm a bit concerned that it might get held up =)  My local CD store carries it (which surprised the heck out of me) so I picked some up, so far, so good, but I'd much prefer to get it from her directly.

I use Sunlight sensitive skin.  I've tried tons of stuff, and it works the best for us (we have hard water).  It doesn't leave build up at all (it's the stuff that my other CD store recommends).

Yes...Charlies is $$.  I also found Nellies $$ too (and it didn't work with our hard water).

  • I haven't ordered any from her yet as I decided to make my own. You could always ask her if she has had success shipping into Canada. I have a few friends in the US who have used it and just love it.
  • As a Norwex Consultant, I use the Norwex laundry soap, you need to use something without fillers in it.  Did they not give you a list of acceptable soaps to use?  I cannot remember which ones were on our list, but this is the way that they will give you warranty on the diapers.  best of luck.
