it is also on TMZ... not surprised... disapointed but not surprised. What about Hawaii and renewing their vows meant that they were going to be together forever.
Whatever,,, I feel bad for the kids, going through a divorce must be hard let alone to have to do it with a bunch of cameras in your face. I bet kate will try to make more money out of it now that she will be a single mom
My DH had the best comment for all this.
I told him that I heard what the big announcement is...they are getting divorced. His response was "I saw that coming the first season!" So true! I know I would have a hard time loving a person that screamed at me constantly. I hope that Jon finds something in his life now that will make him happy because in all the recent pictures he just looks totally strung out. Are we sure he is not doing drugs????
I can think of one reason they want to keep doing the show: $$$$$$
I heard today that they make $75,000 AN EPISODE! If that's true, that's insane.
A PP stated something about Jon being on drugs and I don't think it's that...he's probably just exhausted from all the partying he's been doing. Alcohol can really take a toll on the body if consumed the way he might be.
They cant stop filming right now because they are in contract for another 30 some odd shows (they are a few shows into the 40 show contract). TLC might let them break contract but I dont see that happening since its the highest rated show in TLC history. I dont understand why they would have signed on for that many if they were having problems "for a long time" but whatever.
I know Jon isnt innocent in all this but I do feel bad for him too. I think what he said during the show was really what happened. He was to passive for to long, and when he finally stood up for himself, Kate didnt take to it well.
Either way I hope the kids are off TV soon. They need some privacy growing up. Esp since they will start school next year.
I did watch it last night, I was curious on what the announcement would be (although I figured it would be something to do with them seperating).
I think the show needs to stop, I feel so bad for those kids. I think they need to have a normal, or as normal as possible life at this point. It has to be hard having your parents go through a divorce but having to do it on TV can't be good for them.

The only decent thing I heard was that they aren't going to uproot the kids every other week or something for custody. Jon & Kate are going to rotate their time in the house and let the kids stay in one place. The kids are probably already used to something like that, with Kate always travelling for her book and speaking engagements.
The kids have already been affected by the show...the little ones "yelled" at Jon for bothering them during their interview with the camera guy. What 5 year old knows what an interview is?
I hope the ratings completely plummet now and that TLC cancels the show.
Divorce is hard enough on kids. I cannot IMAGINE dealing with it on camera for the world. The kids don't have a choice in this. I will lose every last drop of respect for their parents if they leave their children under the microscope during this ordeal.
Honestly, I'll probably quit watching anything on TLC if they allow it. This has gone far enough. Let the kids grieve the break-up of their family and recover in peace.
I guess you can't know what you would do until you are in the situation but I can't even fathom not at the very least trying to make things work for their children. And by trying to make things work I mean turning OFF the cameras and focusing on your family and relationship. If it at least looked like they attempted to do that I wouldn't be so disgusted with the whole thing. I think Jon picked a fine time to start sticking for himself. He just came off as selfish to me when I watched last night. And Kate . . well I've always thought continuing the show was her being selfish.
My heart truly goes out to those children.
I haven't watched this show in a long time but tuned in last night. It was really sad to see how simply they lived and happy they seemed when the kids were little. Seems like fame has gone to their heads. Kate thinks she's Victoria Beckham and Jon looks like he's had plastic surgery. I think they should go off air and focus on their family but that would require a lifestyle change (less $$) and it doesn't look like they're going to give that up.

I didn't watch last night but I had already heard the announcement that they had filed for divorce. When I mentioned it to DH (much like Susanne's DH) he said "well big shocker there". Granted its easy to cast judgement when you're on the outside and not actually involved but I don't like the article on People where Kate says that "Jon left her no choice". I'm sorry but that's BS. Marriage takes two. I think for a while it has sounded like Jon wanted out of the show and to just have a "normal" life again and Kate wasn't having that.
I saw it reported they make anywhere between 50-75K per episode and she's got quite accustomed to hob-knobbing with celebrities and wanna-be celebrities like herself.
I hope she's putting money aside for not only their kids college but for the years of counseling they are going to need
TLC is apparently listening. Not as good as full on cancelling the show but still better then nothing. I just wonder when the episode from last night was actually shot and have they been shooting since J&K told them their decision. Because if they were and are just now stopping, I lose even more respect for them.

From what that article says I wouldn't be surprised if they shot last nights episode last week sometime especially considering Jon was at the house with the kids all weekend and told reports/papparazi at their gate that he had no idea where Kate was since she wasn't home.
