What a great weekend! We told them on friday night, after dinner. I grabbed the frame and told my dad that his father's day gift was time sensitive, so he needed to open it now.
He did and in typical fashion was just quite and perhaps a bit stunned. My little sis grabbed it from him and just started yelling "are you pregnant??". My mom then immediately started crying and jumping up and down. It took her a good hour and a half to calm down, during which she was hurling non stop rapid fire questions and then cutting me off with the next before I could finish. She was a little excited
BFF came over on Sunday and my dad brought out the frame to show her what he got for father's day. We've been friends for 25 years and it was the first time I've ever seen her cry. Great moment!
Funny story: I met the neighbour while walking my parents' dog. I was wearing an empire waist shirt and I guess it gave me away. Later that night at the neighbourhood cocktail hour, he said to my parents " you're going to be grandparents!!" My parents froze like dear in the headlights (they were sworn to secrecy) and my mom's intelligent response was "no, she just always looks that way" - lol - best part: He's a detective. I'm sure he suspects she's lying, but was probably to embarassed to say anything.
Re: Told the family!
No actually - not at all. I felt like fraud and like I couldn't be as excited as everyone else was because it's just too hard to accept that this could work out
but it IS working out
And it sounds like an awesome weekend with the family.
How exciting! Now your family knows and they will help you continue to get super pumped.
I'm so excited for you and can't wait for the birth announcement in the new year.. Come on Baby CBL!
wonderful way that you told them, and their reaction!
yep, this is real now... hopefully very soon you will feel it too, and start to embrace it. you wouldn't want to go through over half of the pregnancy (or more) not believing it, nor enjoying it.
