I have a friend who makes just under the max for EI benefits ($45,000 or whatever the exact number is) and she is hoping for a raise before she goes on mat leave.
Her question is - if she can get her employer to give her a raise that will bring her up to the max benefits, will she automatically get the max benefits or does she have to have been making that much money for a certain amount of time?
I don't know if I am wording this correctly or not, but basically does she get 55% of whatever she is making the day she goes on leave, or is it an average of what she made over the last year (or similar time frame)?
We have both tried finding this out online but can't find the answer. I told her that I probably knew some girls that would know!
Thanks!
