Grrr! we have swallows nests

We have 4 swallows nests along our roof ledges. ?I just googled ways to get rid of them and what do you know? ?The freaken birds are federal and state protected!

I know, I (ahem, MH) ?could just knock those nests down and no one would know but us, but I think there may be baby birds in them. =(

Anyone have any suggestions??

Re: Grrr! we have swallows nests

  • Make friends?

We have some super loud birds in the trees outside out bedroom windows. I'm not sure if the are swallows or not but they love to sing at daybreak.

They are not going away so I've made peace with it.

    Sorry hope it gets better.

  • It's not so much the noise - -they're not noisy at all. ?It's the mud nests they put up. ?It looks like we have big gobs of poo up there - lol!

?And then there's their poo all along side the side of the house - -gross!

I think I'll just have to wait until the babies are out of the nests and the mama & papa leave to knock the nests down, coz you know, I don't want to be a bird killa! lol!

  • Yep that's worse than noise!

I'm pretty sure bird killing = bad karma.

  • That sucks.

We had a bird nest on our patio when I lived in Idaho, and man, the mom and dad birds were mean!  I was afraid to walk out of my front door!  Plus they pooped all over the deck.  Ugh.

When they leave, knock the nests down and next year (like starting in Feb) check your house every week.

You can legally knock/hose down the nests WHILE they are being built, but afterwards... no go.

They WILL come back to your house next year too! But once you knock their nests down every day, they will find somewhere that they can build a new one.

Sorry! My neighbors knocked their nest down... I felt so bad!
