I am SOOO ready to move out of my house. I hve never had such a bug problem! Ok first there was the house centipede, then some nasty spider on the bathroom mirror, and then yesterday there was a spider on my door (I did kill it) that has a remarkable resemblance to a brown recluse. F**k.
I took a pic of it and compared it too some google/wikipedia pics. Suppossedly we dont have them in CA, but there is a related species. I was so scared I was on the verge of tears at my SILs bday party. I'm pretty sure my ILs think I'm a nut job now.
The house is getting bug bombed this weekend.
Re: Holy F-ing Sh*t
I feel bad for complaining about the ants in our house. Seriously, what good are ants? They need to become extint.
Hope the bombing works.
We had a really bad bug problem when we first moved into our house- TONS of black widows, endless ants and lots of fun little critters crawling over every little space in our house!
Then we went to Lowes and got Home Defense Max and sprayed our entire perimeter... within 1-2 days all of the ants stopped and we haven't had them since - and I haven't seen a spider inside our house in 6 months!
DH sprayed the entire perimeter of our house twice (just to be safe, lol!). We got one of the pump action tank sprayers to make the job a lot easier/faster... instead of shooting the spray every 2-3 seconds.
Let me know if you have any questions!
GL with your bugs!!!
Oh, and about the brown recluse- not trying to freak you out more, but there are some in CA. My mom got bitten by one about 3 years ago- she works in dark hot places (she works for the water companies and has to inspect tanks and wells from time to time- and the buildings are usually hot and dark.
She got bit by one next to a pile of supplies... she ended up smashing it and taking it to the doctor with her- the bite was definitely a recluse bite. So be really careful!
I've been doing alot or research. We have the desert recluse, still poisonous. How was your mom? I've also read that the horror stories that we've heard and the crazy pics of bites are very rare and also due to bacterial infections, etc.
Also, thanks for the pesticide recs! i think that stuff and some sticky traps may be better than bug bombs.
Sorry if this is TMI!
She was ok after a while- took a LONG time to heal... but luckily she went to the Dr. right away! She had an open sore about the size of the bottom of a water bottle in the middle of her thigh, and the redness spread to about the size of a little bit bigger than a softball. It was really bad and she had to take off about a week because the more she walked the more it spread. It was very scary... and the sore was weird- like a bunch of little blisters - but she healed well and only has a scar about the size of a quarter!
Yikes! Glad she was ok. I'm very happy to read that bites are rare, even in places where they're common. No more clothes on the floor for us!
I hate bugs!
Last night I was on the verge of falling asleep and I felt something crawling on my stomach. I thought it was spider and jumped up hitting myself like crazy. I am surprised I didn't scream my head off. Turns out it was this little thing that looked like a silver fish. Ugh! I kept thinking I had things crawling on me all night.
