My 4.5 month old laptop is fried

After my spending hours trying to restore it and my dad trying we called Sony tech support last night and apparently they think either the hard drive is toast or it had a major software malfunction :(

Oh and since there aren't any Sony authorized repair centers within 75 miles of here they are sending a tech to my house to repair it but that might be for another week.

  • Oh no,  that sucks!  Hope they can fix it quickly.  The service contract on mine is about to expire and I'm concerned that as soon as I don't renew it, something will go wrong.

  • Boy, that sucks!!  I'm sorry to hear that.  Erik just went through that not too long ago and I remember the frustrations. Do you sit with your lap top right on your lap?  That is what happened to Eriks.  It fired it because it was being overheated too much.  He was told that lap tops should ALWAYS be placed on a hard surface (even when not using it).  We are very careful of that now so it doesn't happen again.  That is why they call them notebooks instead of lap tops now.  Good luck!!!

I've only done that a few times.  I almost always sat with a wooden board (it's actually a typewriter board from my old desk) underneath it and the board on my lap or I sat at our table.  Now I just have to wait for the call from the tech to set up the repair date.

  • Oh no!  I'm sorry to hear that :(  I know I was a maniac when my laptop contracted a virus a few months ago and it was out of commission for a couple days until DH could fix it...I love our desktop, but I feel way too constricted by it, lol.  I'd go nuts if I knew it could possibly be a few weeks!
  • That's I feel Charlene...I still have a Dell desktop but its in our basement which is a disaster area right now.  I might try the laptop that DH uses but its slow as dirt (it was my very first laptop back 8 years ago!).

There was an automated message on my cell phone earlier today that the part is being shipped to their rep and should be in on Tuesday and that I should be receiving a call before Noon that day to scheduled the repair visit.  Thank god for warranties!

  • That really does suck, but I am impressed that they are coming to your house to fix it.
