Someone help me :(

Rachel refuses to be put down! She wants to be over my shoulder and screams bloody murder every time I put her in her bassinet. I need a break! Crying

Re: Someone help me :(

  • I'm sorry :(  I don't have advice.  I hope it gets better.

  • Yeah, we got Royce a travel swing.  He gets fussy at first but can sit in it a little bit.  Do you have a sling or one of those carriers?
  • Have you tried bathing her? maybe that'll get her to take a nap so you can put her down.

or you can just put her down and let her cry.  I did that with the baby recently - I told myself if he goes longer than 12 mins, then I'd pick him up.  thank goodness he tired himself out screaming and crying and ended up taking a nap before the 12 mins was up.

  • She might just be fighting sleep. Mary does that. What have you tried?
  • Oh boy have I been there! For the longest time L would only sleep while being held. What worked while for us was the swing or using a sling/carrier. GL and hang in there!
  • I work in Rancho cucamonga and just thought "I should just go over there, it's almost lunch time.". :p
  • Try running the vacuum for white noise. I know she hates swaddling but maybe try that too.

*hugs* I do not miss those moments.

  • She was kind enough to give me about 30 minutes, thank God because my back was killing me!  I was able to pump about 5oz, load the laundry and put away the last load! I do have a sling, but I've had trouble with it lately, like I forgot how to use it Embarrassed. EVERYONE says we should get a swing, so my friend is going to give me hers when she gets back from Cabo next week. I can't wait to try it out.

She is starting to fuss now, but justifiably so, it's her lunch time. Thank you all for your compassion and words of advice!

  • I'm glad you're getting a swing because you definitely need either that or a bouncy seat. Some where to put her down. I think I also got Mary's activity gym when she was around Rachels age. Something to think about.
  • I'm so sorry she's in a fussy mood today. I don't have any advice, but I'm glad you were able to get at least a little break!
  • Awww...I'm so sorry!  I wish I was there to help!

Do you have a bouncy?  We used the Boppy Cradle in Comfort bouncer for Sarah (she hated the swing) for the longest time!  It plays music, vibrates and bounces.  It would soothe her right to sleep.  I also used to put her on the floor on an activity mat with the thingies that hang above her and that would help, too.  She used to fall asleep under there looking at everything.

Sometimes you just have to let her cry...if you've checked her diaper and fed her and she's not hurt or sick, it's ok.  It's still hard to do it with Sarah but she always calms down and falls asleep within 5 minutes.  Remember, crying is "exercise" for them!

I have a bouncer, but she only sits in it for a little while before he gets fussy. I'm hoping she'll like it better when she can make it bounce by herself. I remember my niece LOVED bouncing in hers. She's the same with the play mat my friend gave me. It keeps her entertained for like 2 seconds. She's just a needy baby right now.

  • Well 6 weeks definitely isn't an easy age. Not too much you can do with them. Hopefully she's just having a bad day. I wish I could come give you a break. I would love to hold a baby that small again. :)

  • Her vision is also getting better. That's around the time I use to take C out on walks. He would be super fussy & when nothing else worked, we went outside. He really enjoyed it, still does.

The "bad" days are never fun. They usually end with daddy opening the front door & being handed a baby.

Yes! I am counting the minutes to 4:30! Smile

BTW, Brandy, I got her used to swaddling! I use the Kiddopotamus and a Target knock-off because it's harder for her to break through the velcro than the receiving blankets. She has done it, but usually she gives up and falls asleep.

Kristy, you are welcome to come by any time during your lunch. I live on the west end of Rancho, closer to the Upland border.

The last time she fussed I started carrying her in my dh's front carrier thing and she loved it. She's asleep in it now and I am still able to get certain things done around the house (and online).

  • those days are rough. I still can't get J to sleep anywhere except in my arms, of course a lot of time that's just an excuse for me to be able to sit down.

you could also try a temp change. isabel loved being put in a nice warm sun patch. Joaquin is all about the ac.

I also brought the stroller in and pushed them around in that.

I'm waiting for R to love the bouncer too. Sometimes he'll tolerate vibrate.  The only thing the bouncer has been good for so far is me tripping over it and breaking my toe Embarrassed.  I'm glad that she calmed down so that you could get some things done. Right now R is taking a nap with dh... Dh on the couch and R in the swing.

I love that idea. I'm going to try that one next time!

I am sorry, Irma.  I wish I had an answer for you.  Things I have to look forward to.
