I'm so glad it's here!
I'm super sore today from the last 2 days of Wii Active workouts...tons of squats, squats with calf raises and running...I really needed this rest day!
Tonight is parents night out at Kindercare so C and I are going to dinner and movie. I can't wait!
This weekend we've got a ton of errands to run and need to get ready for our camping trip...we leave next Thursday.
Hope everyone has a great day/weekend!
Re: Happy Friday!
Good morning. I am so glad it's Friday. I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow. I am going to sweet talk Mary and convince her she needs the sleep too.
Brandy-That's horrible. My SIL posted a joke about the death on FB. Too soon! I know he had his problems and was a bit of a werido, but he was also the King of Pop and an amazing man. I think he should be remembered for that. I am very pleased (for once) with the news not mentioning that stuff.
Happy Friday, but still sad about MJ. I saw the We Are the World video on MTV and it just took me back to my childhood (I still have the 45 of it!). It made me feel old. I cried!
No plans today, but I am excited about our photo session with Valerie Ackerman Photography tomorrow! Rachel will have her first official outing also tomorrow. We're going to DH's bff's graduation party. Wish us luck!
No big plans this weekend just church and my lil one's end of the season baseball party we'll probably take the boys to the drive inn 2day or 2morrow
Good morning! I am *so* tired. I woke up at 7a yesterday and went on a 4 hour/8mile hike with my dad. I really wanted to sleep in today, but I woke up at 7:30am today and went to a core class at the gym. I am *so* sore now!!
Today is my MIL's bday, so to be nice I am making her cupcakes. But that also means DH and I are going to her house for a few hours tonight. *sigh* I wish I could get out of it.
No weekend plans yet. We might be buying a couch from a friend tomorrow. Other than that, nada.
We went up to Big Santa Anita Canyon/Chantry Flats in Arcadia. There are a ton of trails, including a few leading to Mt. Wilson, and some waterfalls. But a warning, when you park at Chantry Flats, it is a very steep half mile hike down a concrete fire road to get to any of the trail heads...which you then have to hike back UP at the end of your hike. I thought I was going to die walking back up to the car! I am also about 40 pounds overweight though.
My dad (who is 64, and is in *great* shape despite needing a knee replacement) was laughing at me!
ETA: We also did the East Fork River above Azusa last week. That one was flatter and easier, but the trail is hard to find in some places. We were climbing up and over huge rocks in some spots.
But both hikes were a lot of fun and a great workout!
Great! I've been to Chantry Flats years ago but just cruising the road, not hiking. We usually hike San Berdoo peak (7 miles round trip) or San Jacinto. We'll have to do Chantry some time.
I'm going to try out this one handed typing....today just hanging out at home and maybe stopping at pinkberry later. It may be a little ceasar's pizza pizza night too.
Sat. MIL wants to come by to see the baby and cook for us. Dh wants to make it a gtg wih my fam too so we'll see. We are not taking the baby out till he gets his first shots so everyone-immediate fam- comes to us right now.
What are those trails like? We're planning to do one hike a week this summer, and my dad doesn't want to repeat trails if we can help it.
If you do Chantry, there is a nice waterfall about a mile and a half in (starting at the trail heads, after the fire road). Do that, then back track and take the split by the cabins and hike to the top of the falls. *Really* beautiful! That is a great area to hike--there are TONS of trees which give a lot of shade and keep it cool.
Happy Friday everyone!
Now that it's summer, I'm off on Fridays again - today is my first Friday off...So I'm at home with the boys trying to do laundry today. The kiddo thinks it's so much fun to lay and wiggle all over the folded clothes. heh. I'm letting him go crazy with the warm clothes right now.
No big plans this weekend - just helping mh's aunt move on Sunday. Saturday maybe go to the San Diego Zoo.
Good morning! (for the next minute)
So happy it's Friday! I can't wait to sleep in and not get up early for homework! I'm really not sure how I'm gonna spend my time without homework to do.
I do know tomorrow morning I need to take my car in for an oil change, than I want to go check out redlands new Farmer's Market.
Big thing for the weekend: Sometime tomorrow afternoon my little bro should be coming home from Iraq.
I'm supper excited about this, it'll probably take up the rest of the day, depending on how tired he is.
Sunday there isn't much. I'm teaching a few Anger Management classes for the base, getting some OT and it counts as an internship, so it looks good on a resume.
Lori~I'm super sore too! That thing is kicking my butt in a good way. I can't wait to start seeing results!
That's so exciting that you're brother is coming home!!! Yay!!!!
You'll see results soon with the Active, I promise! Are you doing the 30 day challenge? I lost 8 pounds in the first 2 weeks and the pants I'm wearing today that I just bought last month are FALLING OFF! Luckily I work from home so no one cares...
San Bernardino Peak is absolutely beautiful. A lot of meadows when you get towards the top. It is pretty rigorous.
Mt. San Jacinto I think is even more rigorous. You have to take the Tramway near Palm Springs to get to the foothill and then it's about 3-4 miles up. It's breathtaking to see the view from up there. I remember, though, that the hike down was a killer and it took my big toe nail about 6 months to heal (I didn't use good hiking shoes). That one is an all day hike (7am-7pm for us). We did the difficult trail, but there are easier ones.
YAY! Please thank your brother for me for his service!!!
What age group do you teach AM to?
LorI~ Awesome I can't wait! I am doing the 30 day challenge and have only done 2 days so far.
Kat~ Its actually an adult class. It's a service provided by the base for military members and civil service employees and their families. We have Anger Management, Sexual Harrassment, Suicide, Stress Management and PTSD classes. This will be my first two classes.
Melinda - yay for your brother coming back!
So busy today at work that this is my first chance to get on thenest. Tonight H and I are laying low because I have to work our Disaster Recovery Exercise tomorrow morning and have to be at work at 6 am
. After I finish up at working (and I'm hoping wont be more than 4 hrs), I'm driving out to Palm Springs for my friends bachelorette party weekend!!
so glad its friday! this weekend was suppose our first weekend in a long time where we didn't have any errands or family obligations to do. than IL's decided to do a big gtg in chula vista. neither one of us really wants to go but for family peace i think we have to. none of them have seen J yet.
Sun will be staying home and hopefully catching up on some housework and yardwork.
