**Shari**

Hi Shari - I'm feeling OK. thanks for asking. I'm still pretty sore, but it's getting easier. I just have to keep taking pain meds. I tried to stop and it was still too painful.

Trying to get used to breastfeeding now - it's getting easier, but it can hurt at times!

Re: **Shari**

  • aw...i hope you feel better soon.  i cannot imaging trying to breastfeed after a c-section- it is hard enough as it is!

i  had a really hard time keeping harper awake when i first started breastfeeding and i would get so frusterated. i felt like as soon as i finished she needed to eat again!  it is definitely a very time consuming process.

are you getting any sleep?  does Jack still have his days and nights mixed up?

  • Jack falls asleep feeding everytime, too! I keep him eating by tickling by his ear. but sometimes he's just out and pulls off. as long as he gets close to 20 minutes, I just let him sleep. but if he doesn't we'll wake him up and try the other breast - that seems to work. It can be frustrating, but I know it's best for him so I'm trying to be patient!

He's pretty good with sleeping (**knocks on wood**). He usually sleeps until his next feeding, so I get about 2 hrs of sleep at a time. The first night I didn't sleep very well b/c I was sitting up on the couch - I still cant get in and out of our bed b/c it's too high. we slept in our spare room last night and that was a little better. Then I came down and slept on the couch for almost another 2 hrs while Ryan took care of him and put him to sleep.

It seems he gets fussy twice a day - usually once in the middle of the night, and maybe 1 other time. last night he was up for almost an hour after eating and wouldn't fall asleep - I think he just had some gas. He gets hiccups pretty often.

We're learning! It's fun and interesting. The days just kind of blend together. haha..

  • haha!  it is definitely a learning process.  i never realized babies are so gassy and uncomfortable from this.  i think that was harper's problem every time she was fussy early on.  harper still has hiccups all the time.  she used to get them after eating, and now they come whenever she laughs really hard!

fussy time always happened for harper around 6 pm.  now any time she gets fussy i put her down for a nap.

i hope you are able to get into your bed soon. my girlfriend who has had 2 c-sections told me that her first c-section healed  in 2 weeks and she was good as new super fast, but her 2nd one caused her pain for 2 months!  i hope this is not the case for you!
