Why can I not find a pair of cute, comfortable work shoes that don't make me look like I should be in a nursing home?

I have huge, flat feet and pretty much anything with a heel kills me. I bought a pair of shoes 2 months ago and they're pretty much already trashed. I don't understand how a shoe can be comfortable when you first wear them and then threaten to rip off your pinkie toes a few months later. WTF?!

Aerosoles, Lifestride, Naturalizers...they're all dated and clunky. Anyone have any suggestions because I'm about to start wearing sneakers to work if I can't find a damn shoe that doesn't make me want to saw off my feet.

Are you allowed to wear open toed shoes to work? Cause I usually just wear open toed, especially with the summer months. Tory Burch has really comfortable shoes, and I get away with that line of flip flops at work, which is nice.

I also have two pairs of flats from Bakers, one black and one natural, that fit really well and are comfortable during the day.

But I know how you feel about heels and stuff, I would tower over people at work if I wore heels so I have to go with flats. And we share the same long foot dilemma haha, hellllo size 11.

I wear sneakers (Pumas) into work, and then put on my cute heels/ flats, etc. when I get to my desk. I just hated getting my heels stuck in the brick, cobblestone, vent grates, etc. in the city. It's the only way I get longevity out of my shoes.

I like Borns for flats -- they have a ton of cushioning. Check out TJ Maxx, too. I was thisclose to buying an awesome pair of green suede shoes last week but I already own green flats so I didn't. They were loafer-ish, but really cute and really comfy.

I like to think outside of the box. Today I sported a pair of purple flipflops from Old Navy to the office. Someone asked me if I was going to the beach today. I responded that I was already there in my mind. I have on a super long dress which partially covers the flip flops and also looks like a beach cover up (in fact I have worn this dress in that fashion anywaya)....this is the prime way to get noticed at work, no?

Izzy, did you check out the Taryn Rose selection on Rue? The shoes are made by a former orthopedic surgeon so they're supposed to be really comfy. Expensive, but comfortable.

I'm a big fan of Clarks. Some are very cute, some I wear just because they're so darn comfortable.
