A formula question

Okay I want to go into town today with a couple of friends, it was a spur of the moment kinda thing and I didn't really have time to pump (I can only get two onces every feeding) ?Normally I would just feed the baby in the car but it's already 30 degrees out and I think we would both poach. ?Scarlett will not eat if she is covered up. ?I cover her up and she snaps my nipples. ?Like bites down hard pulls back and lets go. ?It hurts like a mother effer. ? Anyways I was thinking that maybe I could get formula for occasional use. ?SHe has had it before and been fine going back to the boob so I was wondering what a good brand would be just to have for cases like today. ?I have no idea what kind she had before because it was some my brother had and they switch brands all the time.?

Re: A formula question

  • I used Enfamil at first because that's what they had at the hospital but when I started to look around I found that the store brands (President's Choice for us) had the exact same stuff in it so I just ended up buying that and DS didn't seem to notice the difference.
  • When DD gets formula, we use enfamil (which is what they use in our hospital)
  • We went through a ton of brands before we found the right one.  One thing I would suggest though is smaller cans if its just for occasional use...the 1 month rule applies for powdered formula.

Or, even though its not the funnest thing to do...put on a nursing tank top, a loose shirt and nurse in public.  I have had to do it before and even though I was completely uncomfortable with the ppl staring, my little man still fed and was happy.  Some malls and stuff even have nursing rooms.

  • We use the Good Start with omegas and probiotics. It's pricey but it has worked wonders for DD's tummy troubles.
  • We have always started our DC with Enfamil A+ (this is what they use in the hospital but it also happens to be the most expensive) from 0-3 months, then we switched to Enfamil with iron(use to be called Enfalac).  It is almost half the price of the A+ brand and still an excellent product. I honestly have never checked to see what the difference is but since it is made by the same company, I'm fine with it.  I also have always used the concentrate b/c I always found that the powder formula was hard to mix( tons of unmixed powder chucks in the bottle after mixing) for me.
  • We started with GoodStart, but then ended up with Enfamil low lactose (which is funny because DD does NOT have a lactose issue...the kid drinks tons of milk).  Had we not had gas issues, I would have gone with the PC brand!
