I read that when it comes to wedding money you should use a certain percentage towards debt, certain percentage in savings, and spend the rest.
Just curious what people are doing/did. You don't have to give specific amounts or anything.
Re: Wedding Money Poll
For now we have put all of ours into savings.
We paid for the wedding/reception/honeymoon on our own, so we needed it for savings! We are going to try and keep it in there for now incase something would happen and we would need to use it to cover monthly expenses.
We used some to finish off items on the registry such as crystal and china pieces so now we have a complete set...or will in September once all the backordered stuff arrives!
Some we put towards the last of the credit cards for wedding expenses so we didn't have to pull anything out of savings. And the rest will go into our savings account.
Slightly off topic, it was a pain in the bootay to deposit the checks made out to DH and I! I had to change my name on the account and then add DH! Stupid B of A! *rant over*

Items for Sale!
DH went to go cash our checks a couple of weeks ago and told him he couldn't because my married name was on the checks as well. So today we go to the bank, armed with our marriage certificate, and the teller didn't even end up looking at the names on the checks!
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
DH and I have a joint checking account from before the wedding and this was no problem. I didn't change my last name and they even accepted the checks made out to Mr. and Mrs. DH'slastname with no problem. It must vary by bank and/or teller.
As for Chrissy's question - we used about 1/4 of what we received to get some things off of the registry and the rest went straight into savings.

We put ours in our savings. We're using it to buy furniture for the new place bit by bit.
We don't have any debt to pay off (other than my student loans) so that wasn't really relevant for us.
We put ours in savings but it will be used for finishing the house updates.
I had no problems with checks. Our teller never looked at them. If any were in my married name, I signed both my maiden and my married name on it. I never even bothered with having DH sign any of the checks made out to both of us.
We deposited all our checks into our savings account and are using the cash on things for the house!
I was worried about the checks that had both our names on them before we were even married, but we had no trouble at all!
