I might need to quit going to church
For the 3rd Sunday in a row, I was asked when my baby is due. Um yeah, my baby is 10 months old.
Yes I know I am fat. No, I have not lost all my baby weight, in fact I still have 40 pounds to go. Keep in mind I had complications and gained far too much weight. Yes I am trying hard, its just not working.
For cripes sakes though! It is so rude to ask when you don't know someone is pregnant for sure! I see these people every week, they should have noticed by now that I didn't become miraculously skinny.
Re: I might need to quit going to church
Eeeek!!!
Are the people who ask old? I have really noticed that elderly people seem to have lost their filter. Last week my nanny told me that I looked tired, as I'm getting tired of her comments like that, I said 'gee thanks, tired was the look I was going for', to which she said 'oh, you shouldn't want to look tired'. Oy!! My church is an older (or should I say mostly elderly) crowd, and they often say things that should NEVER be said to someone (I had one lady tell me that I should tape DD's ears back, or I could always opt for surgery later on).
Seriously...people can be so rude!!!
People are just rude like that.
Most people I work with know that I am pregnant now and when I made a comment one gentlemen said "Oh I didn't know that" to which I responded "Well I haven't been off my healthy diet that badly lately" jokingly. He looked at me with all seriousness and said "I learned a long time ago that unless a woman in on her back screaming in labour with her feet in the stirrups and the head coming out, never assume she is pregnant!"
I thought that was an excellent rule to follow!
My best friend, who is almost 5 months pregnant was beyond thrilled when she started to obviously show and people could tell she was pregnant and not just a little bit heavy.
But as a general rule, you don't ask questions like that! Is your baby at church with you? If so, do these people really assume that ten months after giving birth, you're well on your way to number two? Or do they think that you've been pregnant for about 19 months now? Sounds like these people should use some common sense and realize that everyone's bodies change!
You should ask some overweight elderly people when their babies are due!
I could laugh off the old people, but someone who just had a baby...ummmm no!!! That is super rude...who the heck says that to someone??
My nanny (ahhh...the woman with NO filter whatsoever) asked my cousin in law if she was sure that there wasn't another baby that they missed two weeks after she'd given birth. The funny part is that we're not a huge fan of that cousin in law, but man, did I feel bad for her. My nanny said it in front of everyone....and then didn't even acknowledge that it was rude.
One of the nurses I work with lost a ton of weight and now she's pregnant. The other day one of the doctors came up to her, looked her up and down and said "what happened to you?" She's like ah, I'm 7 months pregnant. Seriously, who says that...especially a doctor!
One of the women at my church stopped coming to church the last month and a half that she was pregnant for the same reason. She desperately wanted to have the baby and she was so annoyed with people telling her she looked huge.

So far I have only said, "My baby's 10 months old, I am just fat." They usually just walk away then.
