Bridal Shower Ideas

I never actually had a shower, so I'm sort of at a loss as I'm helping to plan one for a friend of mine.  If you had a shower & can give me advice as far as games/activities, I would GREATLY appreciate it!!

TIA!

Re: Bridal Shower Ideas

  • Games at mine or other showers I've been to:

Famous Celebrity Couples, How Well do you Know the bride/groom,  crossword puzzle of couple trivia, party theme games (i.e. for a garden party: guess this herb), wedding word scramble.

These are ones I feel are less awful. To the ones i've been to, most of the guests just enjoyed talking and each others' company, but i know some groups can be different.

  • The one bridal shower I've been to we played "bridal bingo" (I think they actually got the game off the knot too). All the guests fill in bingo sheet with shower presents, and while the bride-to-be opens hers up, they cross out the ones that she does; whoever gets 5 in a row wins a prize. Umm, that's all I got. You could check the knot for other ideas.
  • Here are two games from my shower:

    1. Bride's Apron:  Get the bride an apron (may be with her name embroidered on it or the couple's names and wedding date).  Put all kinds of small kitchen gadgets, tools, spoons, spatulas, a hand cheese grader etc. on it with safety pins and ribbon.  Have the bride put it on, walk around to show all the guests.  Then send the bride in another room for like 5 minutes for the guests to have some time to write down as many things as they can remember that were tied on the apron.  Then bring the bride out with the apron on and see who has the most items written down and they are the winner.  You can go to the dollar store, walmart, target or william sonoma and get lots of cute small stuff to put on the apron.  Then at the end of the game, the bride gets to keep the apron and the stuff on it.

    2.  Bridal Pictionary:  Break the group up into 2 or 3 smaller groups, depending on the size of the shower.  Give each group 10 movies or songs that are wedding oriented.  Have each group pick someone to draw then give them a certain amount of time to draw out the movie or song.  The group who gets the most movies or songs correct within the alloted time frame wins. You will need a big pad and an easel for this game.

Movie Ideas: Father of the Bride, The Best Man, Meet the Parent's, 27 Dresses, My Best Friend's Wedding, Runaway Bride, Made of Honor, It had to be You, The Wedding Planner, The Wedding Singer, Betsy's Wedding, My Big Fat Greek Wedding...(you get the idea, there are a ton more)

Song Ideas:  Going to the Chapel, From this Moment, Always and Forever, At Last, Endless Love, For Once in My Life, I Got You Babe, I Love You Just the Way You Are, Love and Marriage, Saving all my Love for You, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World etc... I think you get the idea, you can be cheesie or pick songs that the crowd will know or not!

    Have fun!

  • I just hosted a shower this weekend and we played the best game. While the bride opened gifts I secretly wrote down certain things that she said. At the end I read the words back as the words she would say in her wedding night. Now, she is a particularly expressive girl so this was perfect. We were laughing so hard we cried!
