My lease is up in january & we're debating getting a new car or just using zipcar for a few months to save some money.
Did you find it easy to find cars? Were you pleased with the service of the cars? How about the price?
Re: Anyone use zipcar?
Iv'e been using it for about a year now. Sometimes it can be hard to find cars especially during the weekends in the summer. But you can book in advance and cancel up to 24 hour ahead with out paying anything.
Thier customer service is one of the best around. I've had a few instances where there has been a problem and they always go above and beyond to help make it right.
Prices aren't too bad, they have gone up a good deal in the last year, but it's still cheaper than owning your own car. And it really makes you question whether or not you really need a car or just want one.
We've been using zip car for about a year now as well. Dh LOVES it. He will rent a zip car for an hour (~$7-10) to drive around the city doing errands, which he feel saves money and time. I like it because it lets us go to Ikea, Costco, and Atlantic City more easily.
It's very user friendly system. You book online or they have an iphone app. Also after 6 months, the nicer cars show up in your search like the BMW 5 Series because I guess they trust you are a considerate driver at that point. Insurance and gas are included in the per hour price.
Also if you do decide to sign up, search online for a coupon code. We had our registration fee and annual fee (~$100 total) waived.
we had it for two years and only cancelled because we really didn't need it any longer (we were moving and getting married in 2007 so it came in very handy then)
i liked being able to pick up a car without going to the airport and that gas and tolls were included (tolls aren't usually included anymore)?
