1st Anniversary Ideas?

Got any great ideas on what to get the hubby for our anniversary? I have kinda dropped the ball and not really done anything for it. It's this coming weekend (July 4th). Obviously we are in Japan, so recs for things to do/see in Dallas won't work, but ideas on gifts would be greatly appreciated! :)

Re: 1st Anniversary Ideas?

  • I got my DH a nice watch for the 1st anni since that's the "modern" gift for the first year.

  • Since the tradition is paper, are there any certain authors or books he might like?  I like the idea of a watch too for the modern anniversary gift.
  • Paper gifts are fun... How about tickets to something cool?  Technically paper... haha.  Tickets to a sports game, concert... etc.  GL!  Let me know what you come up with!

  • We did a vacation for our 1st.  One thing that I did and thought was really cool and hope to turn into a tradition is this.  On our honeymoon we won a contest at the resort and the prize was a rum cake specific to the island.  It was delicious and I ordered one for our anniversary.  If you could think of something small that would have special meaning that would be fun and maybe cheaper than a big gift.

Congrats on a successful first year!

  • I found this website where you can order a print of the nighttime sky/stars from any date you want, any place you want. So, I ordered our wedding day (July 4th) in Belize (where we got married). You can then add the horizon (tropical beach) and a message at the bottom. Hopefully it will turn out cool. Won't be here by our anniv date, but I'm not sure the DH will be home then anyway- he's still in Singapore!

There is also a dinner boat cruise you can go on thru the waterfront in Tokyo. I think I'll get "tickets" to that- I put it in quotes b/c I won't buy them yet until he gets back, but I think it will be a really neat/romantic anniversary dinner- even if it isn't on the 4th!

  • What a cool idea!!!!!!!  What is the website??
  • Fun idea, I can't believe it is already a year!

Let me know if you are still interested in a nursing cover, I have the one you liked set aside for you.
