Seatbelt Poll

WI just passed the law that you can be pulled over EXCLUSIVELY for not wearing your seatbelt.

[Poll]

Re: Seatbelt Poll

  • I honestly could care less if someone else wears their seatbelt. LOL  For us, we have to because my car beeps at you NONSTOP (every 30 seconds) until it's on.  (In the new car, both driver's and passenger's seat is triggered.)
  • Paula, I think there is a way you can turn that off.  My mom had a focus that did that and in the instruction manual for the car, there was a section about how to turn the beeping off.  It was a serious of really stupid clicks that you had to do with the seatbelt.  We were laughing our asses off about the methods to turn the damn beeping off.

  • They haven't passed that law here yet, but I think it's a good idea.

I am sure we are, we usually are.

  • The only bad part to this would be enforcement - it would be REALLY hard for cops to catch people (only because they also are supposed to check license plates and inspection stickers as they pass vehicles).  But I think it's a good idea.

Money-hungry politicians made sure it passed in time to get some of the stimulus money to help enforce it.  They can nail you for it before now, but needed to have another reason to pull you over.

  • Oh, I know you can get a ticket for it if they pull you for something else.  I'm just thinking that with all the other things cops have to check for as they pass you, it's probably going to be the hardest of all to really pay attention to.  MH says they have to look at license plates and inspection stickers on every car that passes them (or at least attempt to) so throwing in the seatbelt watch might be difficult!
  • im pretty sure we have the same law in NM. i think its a great idea. i have one friend who's pissed her new car beeps at her... she says btwn the smoking and tanning she's gonna die anyway...GREAT way to look at it. hehe....im sure i know who the lurker is too...prob the same person who thinks it's okay to drive drunk.
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

Okay, the cars beeping can get annoying (like if Greg takes his seatbelt off to dig for his wallet?  It beeps at him before he can get it out, dig out his card, hit the ATM, and put it back in his pocket), but it's a great feature.

Gee, you should tell your friend that she should just randomly have unprotected sex with AS MANY people as possible, drink as much as possible, eat whatever she wants, and overall really try and speed up death. LOL  (You know I'm kidding here, which is the only reason I'm saying it.)

Does go to show, though... people may appear to be gone, but obviously aren't entirely.
