I just wanted to pop on and say hi to everyone. Thank-you for all of your well wishes.
Ava and Sofia are here. I called the dr on Fri evening and it was a covering practice (the practice that I had left back in January). They didn't seem so concerned with my swelling. I called again on Sunday and it was the covering practice and again the dr blew me completely off. Meanwhile my swelling was worse and I started having headaches by now.
I had a dr's appt on Monday with the high risk dr and Blair took me. They are in a wing in the hospital. Once they did the growth scan the dr sent me over to labor and delivery for some labwork. They came back showing I had pre-eclampsia. My dr came in and said that they could monitor me for a few days, but that they would be coming out. They were not in distress, but my health my deteriorating quickly. They prepped me for surgery at 8:30. At 9:38 Sofia came out and at 9:40 Ava came out. Sofia weiged 5 lbs 13 oz. Ava weighed 4 lbs 13 oz. Ava was having a hard time breathing and she went directly to the Nicu. Sofia went to the nursery. Blair went with Ava. At about this point, I start to not remember things. I remember telling the dr's that I was very hot and I was dripping sweat. I must have told them I thought I was going to vomit. And then I passed out. Both my heartrate and my blood pressure dropped. They were able to give me something to help. Once I was closed up, they took me to the recovery room. At this point, my Mom came in and shortly after my Dad. I didn't have the shakes too bad from the spinal.
My blood pressure continues to be high and I am still swollen, but they told me that would take about a week to two to go down. They continue to monitor my bp. They might have to temporarily put me on something. They thought they were going to have to put me on magnesium which I have heard is tough but thankfully my labs started improving and they decided at about 10 last night that I didn't need to go on it. Which meant that I finally got to eat after over not eating for 36 hours.
I got out of bed yesterday afternoon once they took the catheter out. It was tough. Today has been much much much better. I started taking motrin yesterday morning and am still on the motrin. Pretty much everything else makes me sick and I am doing good on it. I am sore but huge improvement from yesterday to today.
Sofia continues to do great in the nursery. Ava is in an incubator in the step down nicu. We are hoping to go home tomorrow or Friday and have all of us go home together. Once pictures are uploaded I will post some.
Big brother Louie loves their blankets. He loves smelling them and then laying in them. I miss the poor little guy. When I left him on Monday afternoon I thought I was coming home. ![]()
Re: Hi!
It's so good to hear from you. I am glad that you are all doing well. what a whirlwind these last couple of days were for you, but now you have your 2 beautiful daughters! Congrats and I cannot wait to see pictures.
Kristi!!!! I am so glad to hear you are doing better!! I can't wait to see pictures!! I hope the girls continue to grow and thrive and you start to feel better soon. Congratulations!!!!
Congratulations again! I hope you guys can all go home together too and I can't wait for pictures!
Get as much rest in as you can.
Are you still planning on having the baby nurse (I think that's what youc alled it before) coming over and helping?'
How's Blair taking all of this in?
I'm so glad you're doing well and that Ava might be joining her sister soon in the nursery.
You will be sore and swollen for a while but the walking around helps just remember to take it easy. I just got rid of the majority of my swelling yesterday and stopped taking motrin on Sat.
It sounds like what happened to you with the epidural is what happened to me except they were able to give me meds to keep my heartrate and bp from dropping to where I passed out.
Make sure you take lots of pictures of Louie with the girls when you come home. He's going to be a great big brother!
I'm so glad you and the girls are okay, Kristi! Congrats...I can't wait to see pictures!
