We need a thicker ceiling

We came home tonight to hear our upstairs neighbors having sex.  This totally freaks me out!  I'm glad they love each other and everything, but I always feel weird having to listen to it.  Does anyone else have to deal with this??

  • That would definitely be uncomfortable.  Sorry!

Fortunately, the only time I ever had upstairs neighbors was for 6 lousy weeks before moving in with H (then BF).  I rented a basement apartment of a townhouse, where a single mom lived with two little boys and hardwood floors.  BAD IDEA.  I happily moved in with my guy way earlier than planned in order to get the hell out of there.

  • Eww...ick! I love having a house, not to rub it in :o)
  • Yikes.  I know how that feels! I've been living in a bottom floor apartment for two years.  The first couple that lived above us used to fight ALL the time. I would always hear the girl crying and him yelling.  Then a single dad moved in.  He has partial custody of the kid, and he stomps around all the time.  When the little boy isn't around he hear the dad having sex.  Yuck.  We just recently decided to rent a house - we move in on the 15th.  Good luck!

  • DH and I dealt with it freqently at our old apartment. It was extremely funny one night when we heard what must have been some kind of industrial strength toy. We made a joke about it between us Smile Although I must say I was very aware of sounds when we did anything after that, since we were on the second floor and had older downstairs neighbors Zip it!

We moved to a rental house as soon as our lease was up and haven't had to deal with it since Big Smile

  • This is why I've always lived on the top floor of any apartment complex I've ever lived in.  Sometimes we could still hear people next door, but not nearly as often as my friend could hear people that lived above them.  Now we live in a townhouse so we only share one wall, and so far it's been nice and quiet.  We still can't wait to move into our house though!
