we've been married almost a year and i'm FINALLY starting to get stuff together to change my name. I totally put it off all year 'cause i didn't want to go through the hassle, but i realize the longer i put it off,the longer the hassle awaits me. So i'm gonna send out for my certified marriage certifcates next week and then i think i'll head to the DMV when i get the copy. I'm dreading going to the social security office, could i just mail everything?
Re: terrible confession...
if that's terrible, then I'm guilty too, I just got mine changed a month or two ago (actually, DH did it for me...I think he just grabbed everything of mine and mailed it).
it was surprisingly fast via the mail.

I didn't change my name until Feb (which since we were tech married May of '07, was a year and a half after we got married). I just wasn't sure if I wanted to.
SS office was no problem...I didn't even have to wait that long. DMV took forever, as usual.
I still need to do the bank, my school (shouldn't be difficult), and the Army (could be a pain in the arse).
I don't really care how mail comes addressed to me, so I doubt I'd bother w/ magazines or anything until I renew my subscription.
I didn't change my passport and I went out of the country and came back in w/out a problem.
