Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all of the positive thoughts
and prayers over the last couple of days. I don't know how much more I
have to report that you don't already know but I will give another
quick run down of the situation.
I was in active labor Monday
night for about 8 hours, contractions 2 minutes apart the whole time,
the labor moved very fast considering. I got an epidural around 4:00 am
and we were pretty set to have the baby. About 2 hours after the
epidural my contractions slowed waaaay down and finally stopped at
10:00am Tuesday morning. I'm currently 100% effaced and 3cm dilated,
still having some minor contractions once in a while but my water has
not broken which is very good.
I've been taking drugs every 12 hours
to relax my uterus which seems to be working so far. Since everything
is at a stand still right now and has been since Tuesday afternoon they
decided to let me come home this morning. However, I am on strict
bedrest, only allowed to get up for bathroom "priveleges" until the
baby arrives which could be any time between now and September.
I
was also told that the "bladder infection" a different doctor told me I
had last week was most likely the beginnings of labour and had nothing
to do with any infection. This really ticked me off becuase the doctor
I saw last week didn't even bother to check me to make sure everything
was ok. My gut was telling me something wasn't right and I should have
pushed the issue further.
My u/s on Monday morning was a HUGE
blessing becuase this wouldn't have been caught as fast as it was
otherwise. I do however find it ironic that I started contracting
literally 3 hours after my u/s so I guess I would have known something
was up.
Although the thought of a pre-term baby is VERY scary
the NICU doctors have reassured me that everything would be ok if the
baby does arrive early and at this point in time there would be a 98%
chance of survival without very many complications. The biggest concern
would be lung development which I got steroid shots for. As far as long
term for baby the concerns would be very minimal for development both
physically and mentally.
So the plan now it to hope I can make
it to at least 32 weeks and even better 34 weeks which by then the baby
is just "packing on weight".
Oh and according to the u/s on Monday the baby is already almost 4 lbs!!!!

Re: Hi everyone....update!
Glad to hear that you are home. I hope the baby stays in there as long as possible!
I too would be pissed at that doctor. Are you going to say anything to them?
I haven't been on here much so was out of the loop. I'm glad to hear that things are slowing down and hopefully your little peanut will stay put for while longer. I'm sure being home is also much nicer than being in the hospital so I'm happy to hear that.
sending you lots of good thoughts. Time to catch up on all those guilty pleasure TV shows & movies!
I'm glad things are well
That sounds very scary but so good that there's such a low percent of a possible problems. Sounds like you'll get to meet Spud sooner rather then much later.
I'm wishing you a very healthy last couple of weeks if Spud can wait that long.
I'm glad things have slowed down and that they let you go home to rest. I hope everything goes well for you! Hold on Spud!
Still thinking and praying for you and the baby.
Mom, why are you washing my feed in the sink?!
Glad to hear from you and to hear that things have stabilized. Take it easy and try not to go crazy on bed rest
Sending thoughts and prayers your way!
Now just park your butt in bed and keep baking that little spud!
So glad to hear that you are home and that the little one is staying put.
I hope that you catch up your reading / tv shows / etc. and that everything goes smoothly for the next while.
I'm glad to hear that the labour has stopped and that things will be okay with Spud, even if you do give birth. I have been thinking about you often and sending positive thoughts.
Hope you enjoy your bedrest time.
So happy to hear from you Angie! And glad to her that you get to stay home until spud makes it's apperance (which won't be for at least 4 weeks!)
Have been keeping you and Spud in my thoughts. Get lots of rest!?
Do you need any movies/ tv shows to watch? I would be happy to mail you some!
I am SO glad that you are doing ok, and that Spud is ok too.
That is exactly how my labour started, I swore I was starting a UTI. I can't believe that doctor didn't check you.... boy thank heavens for that u/s appointment!
Glad to hear that you're home already and that Spud is still where he/she should be right now:-).
For now, enjoy your time off and rest up while you can.
I was super worried about you. I am so glad that you are at home. Take care of yourself and keep us posted!
grrrrrrrr.. that doctor!
I'm so glad that you're still hanging on for the time being. 32 weeks would be good. 34 would be great. More than that? Amazing. Your little one will indeed be ok, but the shorter the NICU stay the better.
I'm sorry I missed the original post!!
I'm glad to hear that things are going better though, and that you're home resting. I hope everything continues to go well, my thoughts and prayers are with you!
So glad you are home...been thinking about you lots.
I was thinking about you this weekend Angie, I'm glad to hear you are at home now and that your baby is still growing in your belly. I hope he/she stays put for a few more weeks!
If you are looking for something to entertain you while you're on bedrest (which will hopefully be for a good few more weeks!) I would recommend renting tv seasons - I just finished season 1 of Mad Men (excellent) and then there are also guilty pleasures like Gossip Girl (okay maybe I'm the only one who likes teenage drama, lol)
Keep us posted on how you and baby are doing!
