Much better this time - sort of. The "expert" tech was awesome. So friendly, knowledgeable and forthcoming with info.
It was the longest ultrasound of my life. 45 minutes. Baby was very sleepy and refused to turn into the proper position to get the NT measurement. We tried poking my tummy, shaking it, coughing, rolling onto one side and then another and Baby would wiggle, stretch and then resume the side laying position, looking at us head on.
The tech said he could see the NT fold and knew it was very small, but he wanted to get the baby in the proper position because he said that's the protocol -to take the measurement from that position. But baby refused. He did get two measurements from other positions, so that's what we went with. He said it's very small, everything looks good and there's nothing to worry about. I think the measurements were 1.6 and 1.7.
And he took and early guess at the sex and was guessing boy. He said based on the and that it looked more pronounced than just a femal genital terber... (spelling?) But obviously, I'm not hedging my bets just yet.
Anyway, it was an awesome 45 minutes getting to see my little one and I think I might be ready to tell a few more people now that the end of the 1st tri is very near.
Re: IPS take 2
I'm glad to hear that the test went well this weekend. When do you get your final results? It's so amazing that they can tell what the gender is so early on now a days. BTW, boys are awesome :-) When I had my NT U/S done the tech told us that, from what she could see, there was 55% chance that it was a girl. She ended up being right, but we waited to confirm it at our 20 weeks U/S before we got our hopes up :-)
Your mom is hilarious!
I'm glad that measurement is so tiny... and even though you don't want to marry yourself to the idea of a boy yet, it's nice not to just have to think "it"!
So many pregnancies fly by so quickly. But yours? I don't know why but it seems to be taking forever! Does it feel that way for you? Or is it just me, a random stranger on the internet? lol.Happy to hear that your second u/s went much better. From what I've heard a good technician makes the world of difference. I don't know how you could stand being poked and prodded for 45 minutes though!
Good luck telling everyone soon!

Wow...45 minutes is great....but very long when you have such a full bladder though...when you mentioned coughing, all I could think of was that I'm sure I would have peed my pants
I'm glad all went well!
I'm so glad baby CBL is growing strong. Sounds like a stubborn baby! DD was the same - wouldn't budge!
Ooooh how exciting to have an early guess at the sex! A boy would be so much fun!
That is very exciting Amy! I am totally surprised you want to find out the gender though (no clue why, but I would have guessed you as one to keep it as a surprise). Very fun that you might be having a boy, all the ladies around here make having a little guy look like so much fun (although it would likely prevent you from becoming a member of the awesome headband club...)
Have fun telling people!
