Re: How was your 4th of July weekend?

  • I had a good weekend but it felt too short!

I went to visit my grandparents with DH, my mom, and younger brother.  We were going to help my grandpa out with some projects around the farm but it rained almost the entire time we were there so we didn't get to help him as much as we wanted which was disappointing.  That also meant we didn't get to do fireworks.

We got back home on Saturday, though, so we met up with some friends to watch fireworks here which was fun.  Sunday we caught up with grocery shopping and laundry.

  • It was pretty good..got a lot done around the house and saw family too. :)
  • We were driving home from FL all day Friday - we left FL around 7:00am and got home around 12:30am.   It was a loooong day.

We woke up Saturday and just kind of lazed around and caught up on some work stuff and then just went out to the bar with one of our friends and since everything else was closed, we all came back to our house to sit outside and chill for the rest of the night.

Sunday, we cleaned a bit, went to FIL's to pick up our mail from all last week, then went to my parents' for dinner and then to visit SIL and her FI and their new puppy.  :)

  • Our weekend was good. Friday DH and his brother went finish cleaning out their parent's house (Friday also made a month that his dad died). I clean the house and made some of the food for Saturday. On Saturday we had a bunch of friends over for a BBQ and fireworks. On Sunday DH went golfing with a friend while I cleaned from the party (notice something here, hm?). We spent the afternoon laying on the couch watching movies.

  • Ours was good.  Friday we watched the city's fireworks.  I also started tiling the fireplace.

Saturday I finished the fireplace and we had some friends over for a cookout.  Then DH and I stayed in and watched a movie with the dog.  DH also got the house straightened up (mainly the kitchen was in really bad shape!)

Sunday I went shopping with some friends and hit a great sale at Gap and at Pottery Barn.  Found a rug that we're going to end up buying for our LR.  Also, DH and I went to Lumber Liquidators to look for some wood laminate for the LR.

  • Is it possible for a long weekend to be too short? Because mine totally was. DH and I took our dogs to a local park to watch fireworks and I've decided to get them doggie downers next year -- poor things about had heart attacks they were so scared. I realized that in all five years that I've had them I've never been with them for a fireworks show, I've always left them at home while I went to the show somewhere else. I'm a bad furmama :( I had to sit and hold Callie, my 52 lb lab in my lap and hold my hands over her ears to muffle the sounds for her. DH had to hold Chloe, our 56 lb hound, between us with both hands and all of his weight on her so she didn't go running. Where they would have run I have no idea but they certainly tried to. My girls are big, huge babies. But I love them.

  • We had a pretty good weekend, went up to MIL's lake house and hung out with her, SIL, BIL and the nephew.  That lake is in a dry county though, so we actually got 3 sobriety tests between the 2 of us driving to and from his cousin's party Friday night.  DH blew just barely over the limit that night on our way back, but they let me drive him back to the house since I only blew a .01, at least they didn't take him to jail!!! Smile  All in all it was a nice weekend, it's always great waking up with a baby in the house to greet you!
  • Our weekend was good.

Friday, DH and I spent much of the day cleaning out my office at school and starting to get things ready for the school year.

Saturday we met up with friends for dinner and then went to watch fireworks.

Sunday we started packing up our rental since we are moving out at the end of the month.

It was a good weekend, but definitely too short (even with the extra day).

  • Whitney I took Bella to a fireworks show too on Saturday, and I didn't think anything of it because there were a TON of dogs there, but she absolutely HATED it!  We had to hold her while one of us held her ears because I was terrified she was going to have a heart attack or something.  We brought her because people had been shooting fireworks off in our neighborhood all day and driving her nuts, but apparently the fireworks show was worse, I think she's STILL mad at me.
  • To short! Smile  Saturday I made a pasta salad & red, white & blue cupcakes for a BBQ at my Mom's and watched Brett light roman candles in our backyard while he held them in his hand Confused  I told him I hoped his insurance covered fire accidents, thank God he didn't get hurt the little twit.

Yesterday I did laundry, met a friend for coffee, cleaned the house & made dinner.  I was in bed at 9:30 [ugh I feel old] but feel so refreshed today!!

  • I worked all weekend, which kind of wasn't fun. I actually ended up having to stay late on the 4th. Not really horrible because we didn't have plans other than to go see fireworks, and the whole time I was making holiday pay.

I'm actually now on my weekend (M-W) so I'm happy the weekend is over. :)

  • Ours was really good.

Friday we went out to eat with gift cards that we had, and then hung out with some friends.

Saturday we had two cookouts back to back, and both were fun. It was raining here but we still saw a little bit of firework action going on in the neighborhood we were at for the second cookout.

Yesterday evening we had a church cookout, and afterwards we had friends come over to our house.

  • Ours was good!  My parents visited us for the weekend, and it was fun to show them the new house and our new neighborhood.  We also got to see some really great fireworks!  It was a lot of fun.
