Are there any truths to the ?old wives tales? re: Boy vs. Girl?
My family and I were all talking about the funny sayings people have about knowing the sex of the baby.
- The carrying low = boy
- The carrying high = girl
- Heartbeat +140 = girl
- Heartbeat -140 = boy
Linea nigra (Latin for "black line") is a dark vertical line that appears on the abdomen during pregnancy.
- If it runs from the bottom but stops at the bellybutton = boy
- If it runs from the bottom but stops under the rib cage = girl
- If the mothers face looks the same through out = boy
- If the mothers face looks swollen, full of breakouts, different skin pigmentation = girl (i.e. Girl ?steals? the mom?s beauty)
- Sweet cravings = girl
- Sour/Salty cravings = boy
So I was thinking of you ladies are there any that proved to be right for you? Or are there some other that you?ve heard of?

I am carrying low, the hearbeat has always been over 150, no Linea Nigra, and I also did the Chinese Gender Predictor and read many other myths and all pointed to having a girl.
We are having a boy.
Danielle you're having a boy? I had no idea! I must have missed that.
Nona is waiting to do the ring trick on me, something about the gold ring on a string over the belly and depending which was it swings determines the sex. Apparently she's always been right - although she has never told anyone what she thinks it will be!
I'm not sure if I made an "official" announcement, but it is a boy! We found out at about 19 weeks and it has been confirmed 3x since then. We totally thought it was a girl, but my gut instinct changed, about 2 hrs. before the u/s, to boy. Either way, we are super excited.
All signs pointed to boy for me.
Heartrate was pretty average, so that didn't point to much.
Linea nigra went just to my belly button, but I didn't get it until the very end of pregnancy
I carried SUPER LOW. Got hourly jabs to the cervix with her massive boulder head. She was engaged in my pelvis from 34 weeks, and I wobbled from then on.
I was just "out front" my entire pregnancy - everyone said boy.
You know how that turned out!
I had a girl
Carried high/low - Right around the middle like a watermelon ( I have also heard that if you carry like you swallowed a beach ball - boy, watermelon - girl)
Heart Rate - Keira's rate was always about 150
Linea Nigra - Didn't have one at all
Mother's face - I had some break out in early pregnancy but it was over by the end of my first trimester. I didn't have any swelling of the face
Cravings - didn't have any, although I did enjoy icecream that summer!
Chinese gender prediction - I actually did one that said girl and another said boy.
No idea if I was carrying high or low. ???? I just had a nice round belly.
Her heart rates were always in the 150s and 160s at appointments.
My linea negra stopped at my belly button while pregnant with my girl.
My face looked great while I was pregnant. (Interestingly, my Japanese friends all could guess I was having a girl based on my face. There? Being pregnant with a girl keeps you looking good. Normal face, and not too big of a butt.
For the first half of my pregnancy I was more interested in salt... the end? Sugar.
So....... 1.5/5 of these indicated girl! Not a very good indicator, lol.
But she is gaining weight in her face...minimal but still enough to notice, and she is craving sweet.
My family is big into the wives tales...
it is a boy if you don't look preggers from the back.. apparently.. this has rang true for most family members
With DS: I carried low, HB was -140, I had no linea nigra, my fac elooked the same, and I craved sweets. So 3/5 were correct for a boy.
With DD : I carried high, HB was -140, no linea nigra, my face statyedthe same and I craved sour and salty foods. So only 1/5 were correct for a girl.
