Last week when I was sick I took Thursday off and we had Friday off for the 4th and I had a feeling some people at work would speculate about me being out on Thursday...well I just had this conversation with a girl on my team I dont like:

CW: "Oh how was your day off?"

Me: "wasnt much of a day off I was sick"

CW: "Oh you cant handle the stress of this team?" (side note I joined a new team in Feb so I'm considered the newbie)

Me: "no i was really sick, I was in bed all day Thurs and most of the day Fri"

CW: "Oh wow but you were feeling better by the 4th?"

Me: "More or less, but I still slept till noon on Sat"

CW: "Oh well thats convenient..."

    That sucks!

    If I call off sick the day before or after a holiday, I don't get paid for the holiday.

    WTF?! I'm sorry, no matter whart her opinion is, she has no right to talk to you that way. You should have coughed all over her. Let her spend 2-3 days in bed sick as hell and than be questioned about playing hooky. Biatch.

    That is just obnoxious. I hate people who feel they "know" you and assume that you were just making a long weekend when you were really sick. If I get sick around holidays I typically just go in anyway, then when I feel even crappier toward the middle of the day I go home sick-- that way they heard me coughing and sneezing- and would prefer it if I just went home, lol. Sorry she is such a B! She has no right to talk to you like that!

    Honestly I was planning on going to work but I could not get out of bed on Thurs. I figured even if I show up for a few hours it would be better but there was no way I could make it. I take comfort in the fact that my boss saw how badly I was struggling to get through the day on Wednesday and told me to go home a few times that day except I had so much work to finish up there was no way I could leave. My boss came by this morning and told me I looked a lot better so I know she believed me and thats all that matters to me.

    Sorry you were so sick :(  That really sucks- but as long as your boss was cool that is all that matters--- let them all gossip- they just look like idiots! :)

    Ditto. Everyone can go suck it. I'm sorry you were so sick. There is definitly something going around. Glad you are feeling better now.
